A nice razor at a reasonable price
I‘m new to using a DE razor for shaving. I found this razor after searching online for a quality razor and decided to purchase it because it was recommended. It is everything that it was advertised to be. Stylish, quality materials, very functional, and easy to use. It will surely last me a lifetime and has made my entry into shaving with a double edged blade a rewarding experience.

I have a shorty now for travel and this one. Lavender wasn’t specifically my plan, but the price happened to be way lower for a short time, so I bought it for everything but looks. I may be in danger of losing it to my wife, but otherwise unconcerned. The shave I get with these is unparalleled. I use Derby Premium blades (black, not green), but you may need to try a few to find your perfect match beteeen your face and a blade. The 3-pc design makes this sturdy and basically machine-perfect (compared to mechanized versions that can misalign if dropped). This however may not suit people w/ very poor vision or difficulty w/ manual dexterity required to manipulate the threaded assembly required at each blade change. All that in mind, absolutely smoothest shave I’ve ever had, and pretty much the cheapest too…as an added bonus, the least razor burn to boot. Buy w/ confidence and spend only a few dollars more. I’m basically certain you’ll have good results.

Female First-Time Safety Razor, Highly Recommend
I typically avoid shaving my legs when they won't be seen. Not because I'm lazy or hate shaving, but because replacement cartridges are so expensive! I have naturally thick hair - great for my head, not for the rest of my body - and a single full shave will dull a brand new 5-blade cartridge to the point of uselessness. Waxing is financially out of the question right now, and a straight razor is a daunting prospect, so the safety razor it is!I did a lot of research trying to find the best razor in my price range and the best blades for a confident beginner, and I landed on this razor with Astra blades (that is until I feel comfortable enough to use a sharper blade).First off, the crafstmanship is beautiful. It's clearly a well-made product, and I'll update later if it doesn't hold up to the test of time and a humid bathroom, but I doubt that'll be the case.I ordered the long handle, and I'm glad I did, because it still feels a bit short when I'm reaching for my ankles. I would have preferred longer, but I suppose that would have thrown off the weight balance, which was already a little imbalanced for my taste. The handle could be a little lighter, or the head a little heavier, but that might upset the integrity of the design, so I'm happy overall. I was able to compensate for the imbalance with a little light pressure.I will say though, for someone who shaves in the bathtub with wet hands, the grip was severely lacking in... well, grip. The surface of the handle was too smooth to feel immediately confident about holding it without slipping, and I would definitely prefer a textured grip instead, but I thankfully didn't have any real issues keeping hold of it with a blade against my skin.Overall, very comfortable to use. I got a little overconfident after my legs and went for the bikini area with a little too much gusto, which left a few nicks, but after I slowed down, I was able to go full Brazilian my first time with a safety razor!I'll still have to replace the blade after every shave, but the price of individual loose blades is so much more reasonable, and they're so much more convenient to store.Overall very satisfied with my purchase, and I highly recommend for other women looking for an alternative to eco-unfriendly disposable cartridges and the pink tax.

Just do it!
I sent over a year debating and then getting the nerve to try this type of razor. My only regret is not doing the switch years ago! I love the size and weight of the razor and tale no offsite with the shorter handle. It's a solid piece of craftsmanship and with just a little practice I've mastered it though getting a bit too hurried one time did leave a bit of a blood bath. I'm still in the air on which particular blades are best for me but I do know the featherweight don't cut it on my coarser hairs though they're fine for the softer, blonde hair on my arms. Considering the price of blades I'll continue experimenting though I'm pretty pleased with the Derby Premium I'm using now.

Very nice! I previously had been using a vintage Lady Gilette from the 60s. I really liked that one, because it's cute and vintage and I like vintage things. I also like the history that it was the first razor ever made for and marketed to women. However, as much as I tried to mess around with different blades, it was a uncomfortable shave and I always got little nicks around my inside shins. I wasn't willing to mess around with expensive soaps and shave brushes and all that. After struggling with that one long enough, my fiance bought me this one for my birthday and it shaves SO much nicer! It just glides! I have to do so little work. It's also cute :). As much as I think it's cool that I use a typically "manly" razor, I also want it to show my feminine style. Two drawbacks: the shaft is so smooth that it does get slippery. I have to be extra careful, which I probably should be anyway. Also, I am still not sure how I feel about the screw-open top to get the blade in and out. The Lady Gilette had a twist-to-open feature, so there were no separateable parts. That made it more difficult to clean, but easier to open if I needed to flip the blade in the shower. With this one, I'm standing there in the shower trying to hold two separate pieces plus a blade. I guess I could just try not to do that in the shower, but it's just breaking habits!Overall, I love it and it's a great experience!
