Q: Swimming in winter water

The hood is made of nylon so it really does not give you very much warmth. Although bulkier a neoprene hood if the water is cold will keep you very warm

Q: Is this 1 size fits all? Also is it hot or good for summer?

We bought 2 and my husband (6'2" 210 lbs) and I (5'5" 160 Lbs) used them interchangeably. So I can't vouch for 1 size fits all, but it fits a range of sizes. We bought them to protect against sun while snorkeling in tropical Palau. They were perfect in the water.

Q: Does it cover the ears well?

Yes and it works perfectly. As a scuba Instructor since 1989 I use these on every dive.
