It fits my 13 inch screen laptop in the laptop compartment (just) and in the main compartment it fits the cables, mouse and my lunch. The other smaller compartments are very good and hold lots of stuff. The side pockets are small but one side definitely fits a small squishy water bottle. I use it as a backpack and it definitely is water resistant...it also didn't break when I carried quite heavy items (2 x 2lt bottles of coke!), although that was just one time, so wouldn't recommend carrying too much weight.

Love it. Light but holds plenty. I bought for day hikes and works well. Looks great too.
