My microwave is no longer so dark during cooking that you can't see the food without turning the kitchen lights off. Our LG microwave / range hood came with really dim 30W bulbs even though the manual says you can use 40W bulbs. Unfortunately, microwave cooking was taking place in such dim light that you had trouble seeing how the food was progressing as it cooked. Switching to this bulb fixed the problem. Not only is it brighter because it is a 40W bulb, but it is even brighter than a regular 40W bulb because it is a Xenon bulb.This bulb has a candelabra base (the size of C7 Christmas lights), the microwave bulb sockets are for an intermediate base the same size as C9 Christmas lights. Fortunately, you an buy a 3-pack of Grimaldi Lighting E17 to E12 Bulb Adapters on Amazon to take care of the difference in the bulb base size. That's just the right number if you want to also replace the two bulbs under the bottom of the microwave/range hood to give better illumination with these bulbs for cooking on the range too.

The bulb puts out lots of clean white light. The only problem is that one of the two I bought died after less than 100 hours use. The seller did not help because it was more than one month after sale but Westinghouse was great. I found a phone number for the bulb department. The very polite woman asked for a copy of the receipt and followed up with an e-mail asking if it was the clear or frosted version. Upon my e-mail reply I was told that a replacement was on the way. The whole response time was three business days which is very fast for a large company. When the package arrived by FedEx Ground rather than US Mail as I had expected, it even contained a few spares - more than I had asked for.It would have been nice if the bulb had lasted the rated 2000 hours but Westinghouse is a great company to deal with.

Ceiling fan & lights

The bulbs are great, however I got one that was broken in shipping.

Bright, warm & puts off some heat (a lamp would be warm to the touch but not hot) so great to use in my extra large salt lamps. This bulb is also small in size which is what I was needing.

Only complaint is they are not dimmable
