The Hobie Hawg Trough Fish Measuring Device has almost become the standard measuring device for fisherman across the country. Its concave design cradles the fish for simple measurement. This Hobie Hawg Trough measures fish in 1/4 inch increments from 8 inches to 30 inches in length. Holds the big ones safely for measuring and photos before release. A word of advice: The Hawg Trough does not float but it luckily has holes on either end to attach a leash. Measures fish from 8 to 30 inches in 1/4 inch increments Concave board with end lip makes measuring fish easy Holes on either end allow for leash attachment Features the Hobie logo Review: The one to get. - I think this is the best option that Iโve seen. Many are like a yardstick and that just wonโt work with larger or even lively fish. I use a kayak that doesnโt have any extra space, and I catch a lot of 20-24โ red drum that I release. Without this my neighbors would still think I never catch anything! ๐ Whether itโs a large flounder or drum, the fish is cradled and will rest in the trough while you get a measurement. My only recommendation would be for the company to thicken it up some. It seems thinner than it used to be. Fits Perfectly!
This was a gift for my StepSon who was well pleased with it. He had apparently done quite a bit of research before showing affinity for this one.

Quick and simple measurements without hassle
The shape of the trough makes it easy to lay the fish on it and quickly get measurement. Easy to read and totally simplifies the process. I'll never go fishing without it!

Works well and cradles the fish so it doesnโt slide off
Works great is easy to read and is accurate. Only con I have found after a few weeks is a slight curve of the ruler due to it being plastic and exposed to the Florida heat and sun. Does work well and cradles the fish nicely and is foolproof for clients to use quickly.

Cheap Plastic Junk
I can't believe Hobie would put their logo on this product. Flimsy plastic construction with black painted numbers that will easily scratch off. Looks like something you would find in The Dollar Store.

Excellent Quality
I ordered this as a gift to my husband. He is very pleased with it. He uses it every trip out fishing in his kayak.

Just ok
Just ok. Coloring of number came off after first use. Had to mark in with a permanent marker myself. Not kayak friendly. Big and bulky
