How does this compare to a furminator?

Always loved my ferminator! Compared to this it is like the cheap plastic combs people used to carry in their back pockets versus a new brush. It’s a completely different class. This is gentle- my whimsy German shepherd ran from the ferminator and loves this thing. PLUS it gets more hair out without and tearing. You will learn not to angle it so you dive in crazy deep on the first pass. It is easy to get the hang of, relaxing, and effective!!!

Is the groomer specific for long furry animals? Is it as efficient on animals with a short fur length?

I have three cats. One is long haired, one is short haired, and one is VERY short haired. For the long-haired cat, this works well. My short-haired cats, it works less well, but did do a decent job at getting some mats out of the standard short haired cat. The very short haired cat, this doesn't do much for, it's more productive just to brush her.

Do you use this for daily combing or only when there's matting?

I prefer to use a comb with tines much closer together for the daily grooming of my cats and use this tool when mats are present.

Has anyone used this on a dog that has an undercoat? I have a long haired border collie.

We used this on our dog and it was awesome. She is her own type of dog mixed with Rottweiler, Australian shepherd and poodle and this solved our problems. She has a very unique type of fur but does have an undercoat.
