The subwoofer that made me love subwoofers
I have a 2 channel music setup with a tube amp. I always felt like I needed more bass, but every time I introduced a subwoofer it sounded out of place and distracted from the music. I've tried Hsu, Rythmik, and Velodyne of various sizes. I never really liked any of them.I took a chance on the REL thinking I would probably return it like the other subs, but lo and behold, this one is a keeper. I absolutely love this thing. It just blends absolutely perfectly with my system. I don't know how they do it. It blends so well I kept turning it off just to make sure it was still on, and when I do the whole bottom cuts out and I realize how much it's adding. With other subs they might sound good with some songs and completely out of place with others. But with the REL it always sounds perfect. If I'm playing a bass heavy song like hip hop, it's loud and boomy like I want it. If I play some classic rock it's perfectly blended, punching it up without being over the top. If I play something softer like folk it's just subtle enough to not interfere with anything. It's like the sub changes character to completely match whatever you throw at it. I've never heard another sub that could do that. I really don't know how they do it. It's perfect on everything. It looks amazing too. It's shiny and classy looking. And it's small enough that it doesn't stick out any more than I'd want it to.My one big complaint is that there's no standby mode. Turning it on and off all the time is a pain, especially since I have a bad back and keep it tucked away and don't want to crawl around to turn it on and off each time. I just leave it on all the time. I guess that's ok, but for the price of this sub it seems like they could throw in a standby mode easily enough. Even my cheap little Polk sub has standby mode.I'm really impressed with this thing. Until the REL, I hated subwoofers and thought they were only for bass heads. I'm loving this sub more and more every day.

If You Love Music, This is Your Sub Woofer!
It is a crime to call this masterpiece a common sub woofer, it is certainly not! It is a very musical speaker that caters to the lower frequencies with such aplomb that it will make ANY pair of fine speakers sound even better. Because that is exactly what this REL does better than any one else, it makes the bass portion of your signal sound tight, focused and musical. All they do is build sub woofers and their commitment to quality is very apparent. Not just in the speakers amazing sonic quality but the build quality is perfection! It is very solid and is finished with 5 coats of, in my case, black piano lacquer. You can spend this same amount of money and not get close to this combination of sound and build quality. If you love music, this is your sub woofer!

Great subwoofer - Integrates well with the existing system
I owned a few subwoofers including Martin Logan, SVS, Paradigm millennium. After talking to different retail HT experts, I bought this based on quality, size, and price. I liked that fact that Amazon offered free return shipping back too. So, I tried it. It worked great with my paradigm floor standing speakers. It produces deep and tight rich sound. I was very impressed with the sound quality. I had to spend some time in fine-tuning, including the placement of the subwoofer. I found out that my room needs a little more powerful subwoofer than what I thought. One small thing I noticed was there was a little dent in the outer finish when I unboxed it (I followed their instruction how to unpack to avoid scratches).Overall, I liked REL Acoustics T/7i sound quality.

A musical subwoofer
As noted by many reviews, this subwoofer is ideal for 2-channel music listening (if you want a floor shaking sub for home theater you'll want to look elsewhere). This is designed to blend seamlessly with your existing speaker setup, adding definition and that little extra "oomph" to your music. When I first plugged in, I was underwhelmed. However, I followed the manufacturer's instructions regarding 2 hour break in; that plus a few days of tweaking knobs eventually got me to a happy place. My system is a Rogue Cronus Magnum II integrated driving Focal 1028be floorstanders. I loved the system without the sub, but always wanted a little extra something in the low end. This has gotten me closer to audio nirvana.

A piece of art with quality flaws
REL subwoofers enjoy a stellar reputation for performance and quality, so my expectations were high. The cabinet is a work of art, just beautiful. After unpacking, however, I soon came to discover that the grill isn't worth of a $100, the pegs falling off and getting stuck in the front baffle. At night, the pilot light will illuminate your entire living room, it's that bright. Nothing says high end more than a piece of tape on the back of your woofer. I never got a chance to properly set up, the thing was clicking with a terrible hum (all cables connected correctly, no shorts), unfortunately. I will say that customer service is very quick and helpful. This experience totally marred my excitement about REL. What a disappointment.

Works great in my studio
It took some time to dial in the right settings, but now that I've got it working right I'm very pleased. I'm using it in my studio with a pair of KEF LS50s. The one thing I don't like about it is the lack of a standby mode. This doesn't bother me in my present configuration because I switch on my whole studio rack with a power strip. But if I was using this in a standard stereo or home theater setting it would be a pain to have to manually switch it on and off for every listening session.

Perfect bass for my home theatre
This sub is worthy of all the great ratings I read on it. It can not only fill the room with great subsonic bass, but also fill in the "tweens" bass sounds. Car engines have a nice throaty sound. Playing the Macy's 4th of July celebration that featured the West Point orchestra and choir, it balanced perfectly, not boomy but present. Its driven by Yamaha RXV 683 with front and mid speakers that are Yamaha NSIW960 2-Way Speaker, and rear bose satellite/sub.
