Did the job
For the price it did what it had to, but the stitching where the zipper and main material could be of better quality as mine tore quite easily

Quality roof bag
Quality bag, held all our camping gear and we don’t mess around so we pack a lot of stuff.Setup: The roof liner worked well enough, the bag didn’t slide or wiggle and my roof didn’t have any scuffs after our trip. Position the bag about 8 inches from the front edge of your roof. Distribute weight evenly - easy enough when you have two of everything for camp gear (one on each side, heavy tent in the middle).Straps: Straps could be designed better if they had a clip buckle versus the cinch buckle, for the reason of long term or repeated use. The ends of these straps are going to fray eventually, and since the setup of this bag requires threading the straps through each time on and off, that’s a lot of wear and requires a straight edge - once these webbing straps start to fringe this will be impossible. Straps can be replaced I imagine.Zipper: Flip the overhang flap up when you zip! Try leaving the bag in the sunshine for a few minutes to soften up. This vinyl is incredibly tough to maneuver unless it’s warm and pliable.Packing: Plenty of storage space. We even put our chairs up there.I took this up to 77mpg, no cross wind. Cross wind brought us down to 60-65mph. We lost fuel economy with the bag obviously (if you’re into that). If you’re having too much noise from the bag you can use a bungie cord or another strap to pinch the front of the bag tighter to the roof. Also, loop the straps around themselves to reduce any extra flapping.

Don’t bother spending money on this product. It is cheap!!!
My husband and I used the King Bird Cargo Carrier on a long 4,742 mile trek from St. Louis, Missouri to Missoula, Montana and beyond. We travelled through a total of eight states, during a period of two weeks. We also stayed in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho and then in Grayland, Washington, and also stayed in tent camping grounds along the way.The King Bird Rooftop Carrier looks great in the ad but it is at first difficult to assemble. The black and white photos included in the package were difficult to understand so I printed out the color photos from the website which made the first assembly much easier. The main reason we chose this product was the cost: only $114 +. But you know the saying: “You get what you pay for.” So if you want something of superior quality, you’ll need to pay for it.The King Bird Rooftop Carrier looks great in the ad but it didn’t hold up to the heat and fierce wind that we experienced on our long trek. The temperature was in the 100’s day after day. At one point the stitching in the front of the carrier started unraveling and caused about a five inch hole. As a result this caused a whistling sound. Because of this we were concerned and stopped on the road, on the side of the freeway, and needed to repair the hole with black Duck Tape. (Eventually, even the Duck Tape was removed by the wind.) It was dangerous being on the side of the road as fast moving cars and trucks were whizzing by. But that wasn’t the only problem. At this emergency stop we learned that the carrier had moved forward and was slipping down to the windshield. The roof mat did not keep the carrier from moving. It wasn’t strong enough. My husband then needed to remove everything from the carrier, place it all on the ground and start from scratch. He had to move the mat back in place under the carrier and once again put everything back in place. He finally got the job finished after an hour and a half. It had rained earlier for about fifteen minutes and we were concerned about the state of our belongings. Fortunately the rain had not gotten inside the carrier so everything was still dry. It was just beginning to get dark so we were grateful that my husband had enough light for this important task. For anyone who still desires to purchase this roof top carrier (after my review) would be wise to carry along a 3-step, step ladder. We took one and it was such a help! The following day after arriving in Missoula, we noticed that the threading on part of the back of the carrier had also started to unravel. So it was obvious to us that this product needs some “tweaking”. And we would not recommend it to anyone. Because of the fact that the material used in this carrier is so thin, it is not the best material to protect one’s belongings. But we are grateful that we did get home in one piece, both ourselves, the carrier and our “stuff”!

This is not aerodynamic
The product has no solid form, so it will not look like the picture. It will look like a garbage back strapped to your car. I had read reviews that the straps that come with this are prone to ripping and flying off, so I secured those only lightly, and then I used ratchet straps on top of that. I put this on my 2017 Subaru Impreza and drove from Billings, MT through Canada to Kenai Alaska. It did not budge, and everything inside was safe and sound. It indeed was waterproof. I would recommend not using this regularly, but only for occasional trips, because when I did try to tighten the straps during the driving, the stitching started to tear. I think this is great for one to three uses.

Good, unless it's cold out!
The bag worked great. Good size, straps were sufficient, and in warm temps, the zippers worked okay. They were difficult due to the thickness of the bag, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, we traveled into an area that was experiencing freezing temps, and the bag lost ALL pliability. It became hard as steel and the zippers barely unzipped. Then, when we went to load up and come home, even after warming the bag inside, the zippers were useless and one broke completely off the bag. I must note, that it rained 10 out of our 12hrs home, and the only thing that saved our belongings from getting completely soaked was the velcro on the zipper flaps, so, that was a plus at least. Well, I reached out to Kingbird the next day (Nov.28th) through their website (through Amazon), and yet to here back from them. Unfortunately, for me, I had started the return of the bags, and my Bloodhound decided to shred the one that was already damaged (failed zipper). So, just be warned, this is a decent bag, but if you have issues, don't expect Kingbird to provide any support whatsoever.
