Has advantages if you are in a rural area where ingredients like fresh parsley and mint aren't always easy to find
The other reviews stating that this brand isn't as good as some others are correct; HOWEVER, to be fair, this mix does not require you to have any fresh parsley or mint to make it. The other brands are better because they are made from fresh ingredients rather than dehydrated ones. You sacrifice some on taste, but this Casbah mix has some advantages if you are in a rural area like I am, where ingredients like fresh parsley and mint aren't always easy to find unless you are growing your own. And this all-inclusive mix (except for the tomatoes that you add yourself) costs less than other mixes I've used. I do agree with another reviewer who suggested using less olive oil than the recipe suggests. I probably used half the amount and found it to be fine. You can always add more--you can't take it out once it's in there!

We're pretty new to the falafel game. I had a buddy recommend it to me when I couldn't find any of my regular vegetarian items at a restaurant I was at with friends (big thanks to him). My first falafel was at Upland Brewing in Bloomington, Indiana. Whenever we travel we make it a point to find falafel and have tried a lot of different kinds. My favorite so far is a little place close to home, Manna Grill, in Evansville, Indiana.I have never made falafel from scratch and have only ever used mixes. We've tried a few that we've found in stores nearby and have ordered a few different brands from Amazon. I don't recall the name of it but we did find a very good mix at Meijer awhile ago. Casbah has been our favorite so far and there's no comparison with most of the other mixes we've tried. We first bought boxes from Fresh Thyme but have since started ordering cases from Amazon. My favorite foods for most of my life has been Mexican, more specifically fajitas. Falafel has been moving up the list of favorites and might be #1 now. The things I love about falafel is that it is so easy to make, especially coming for a mix like this. It keeps well and leftovers are delicious too. I prefer to put them in the toaster oven a day, or two, maybe three after. It's not great reheated in the microwave but works if you're in a hurry. It's so flavorful, easy to make and leftovers are great. My wife and I recently gave up dairy, eggs, etc. Falafel is usually cheese, milk and egg free but the first time I ordered it I had to have them hold the feta cheese. I've not ran into that again, thankfully. I prefer using humus instead of tahini sauce while my wife opts for vegan mayo. But if we're out to eat I have no problem with tahini being used.I highly recommend falafel to anyone, even meat eaters. You can't go wrong with this mix from Casbah!

The 12 boxes I just received will expire in December of 2018.
It is not a good idea to purchase food on amazon. No matter what product it is, if the date is bad then it's a poor purchase. This product arrived with a date that was two months out. Silly on a 12 box order. And a blatant rip off. Amazon should be ashamed.

my favorite hummus mix of them all
Joy and happiness! I was afraid I'd have to give up this treat because I couldn't find it and here it is! The one store that ever carries it that's within 100 miles of where I live, keeps forgetting to reorder it, in spite of all my pleas to keep it in stock. All you need is some water - I use moderately hot so it blends faster - and some olive oil to add after mixing. Really good flavor, fresh taste. It stands up well to long-term storage, not that it's going to stay there if you like it. This 12-pack is an exceptional bargain.

SO GOOD !!!! <3
I love hummus, and don't like broken glass jars when I order hummus online. Equally, I'm not really a fan of plastic jars. So, this is Ideal. The way I like using it the most is to make a nice sized salad with greens from my garden, all the pieces cut to be bite sized. Then, I add the dry mix, a lot of water, stir, add quite a lot of olive oil, stir, wait a bit... and Enjoy. It is so good.It has a lemon garlic flavor. Sometimes I add more garlic, but not often.I like Casbah Hummus for a nice, high protein dinner. As an aside, if you have a lot of pain, try eating more protein. Nerve cells need protein to function properly :-)

Balance of flavor, texture, and convenience
The box of course substitutes some flavor for convenience compared to fresh, but that's exactly what I'm looking for. I tried a few box mixes, and always have been slightly disappointed by either texture or flavor. This one does both well. The falafel holds together well, fry up super fluffy, with a nice crisp but light crust. They are well spiced. Would definitely recommend.
