Inexpensive and effective electric fence tester. As others have noted it uses neon lamps, which are dim and hard to see in sunlight. However, if you shade the lamps with your hand or hat, you can see how well the fence is working. Works as expected.

Works just fine for me. Ground lead in plenty long enough. Cheaply made but what do you expect for the price. Yes the lights are a little hard to see in the daylight but common sense tells you to just put your hand or a hat over the front to see.

This voltage tester is easy to use. It works good if used during the darker part of the evening. The lights are not bright enough to be seen during the daylight. I initially thought the tester was broken, but then I remembered the reviewers who said the light was dim. That was the problem.I checked the electric fence that night, and the tester gave me the reading ai was hoping for.

giving a 1 star now because i went to check 2 fences, including directly on the controller to see if i could see anything. daylight, no lights... will try again at night but who the heck needs to test these at night???? if night works and i can see i will upgrade to 2 stars... but come on, how hard is it to make it work in day light? even a hand over the lights cant see. so either bad, or bad design!

It worked great for me. Easy to use and easy to see the reading. If you can’t see the reading very well the problems on you because you don’t have it hooked up correctly.

Not leaving a 4 star because I didn’t know of the very dim lights, seller warns you of this aspect several times including in the box when opening. I figured I could work around the low visibility lights by shading it with my hand or hat (like seller suggests); but you can’t. The dim lights virtually render the product almost useless during bright daylight hours. So the 4 stars is nothing against seller – it’s against the product.I do like that it measures the level of the voltage running though the fence not just an all or nothing single light. I also like that it has a long wire on it to find a proper grounding source. The fact that it doesn’t use a battery makes it great to toss in a truck without worrying if the battery has run out or gotten corroded. Also I run a hot poly tape not a wire or string, so the hook on the hot end makes it almost unusable as well. If it wasn’t such a good price point I would have returned.Save the head ache and accidental shocks trying to find an angle to see the lights and buy the version with the LED readout.

Good price, quick delivery. Works better than grabbing the fence with wet gloves, I know, duh! Really, it gives a quick check of the status of your fence! Easy to read and use!
