Works perfectly
This fence tester works really well giving the user an accurate measure of how powerful their fence is. Yes the lights are not bright enough to see in bright sunlight, but if you simply cover it with your hat or a piece of cardboard or aper, you can see is easily. When its cloudy or early or late in the day, the lights are very bright and easily seen and interpreted. The cord to the ground electrode is long enough to test the top wire on almost any fence. I am totally happy with this tester and see no real reason to spend more money on anything else. Buy and use with confidence.

Inexpensive and effective
Inexpensive and effective electric fence tester. As others have noted it uses neon lamps, which are dim and hard to see in sunlight. However, if you shade the lamps with your hand or hat, you can see how well the fence is working. Works as expected.

Worth it but doesn't light up well but the price is cheap and it works. I'm satisfied.

Item did not function. Tested against a known hot fence by the old fashioned way.

Works just fine for me. Ground lead in plenty long enough. Cheaply made but what do you expect for the price. Yes the lights are a little hard to see in the daylight but common sense tells you to just put your hand or a hat over the front to see.

Very simple to use - just not in bright sunlight
This device is very simple to use although it is hard to see the lights pulsing in bright sunlight and the manufacturer warns of this issue. The ground wire is not very long so I have one area of fence that I cannot test directly but since the rest of the fence is fully functional at a splitting point, I assume the stretch (over a gate) that I can't test is also working. Really easy to use: poke the ground stake into the ground and touch/hang the other end against your electric fence. Watch for the lights on the front of the device to see how strong of a pulse your fence is putting out and that's it.

Not bright
Light could be alot brighter it's hard to see outside just look for a faint flicker like really faint works better toward dusk when it's not as bright
