Jamaican Black Fruit Cake (8 inch)

Not up to the typical standard of Royal Caribbean Bakery.

My husband is from the country of Saint Lucia and was missing home at Christmas. I wanted to give him a little something from home and was able to find this black cake. Being located in where we are in Indiana it is hard to find anything Caribbean. He loved this cake, and I having never experienced it but knowing I did not like the traditional Christmas fruit cakes, also really enjoyed it. It has a rich unique taste and a full consistency.

My reaction to this cake is exactly like D Webster's. As a result, I was totally disappointed after spending $55 for a cake that arrived in a package unlike the one presented in the description. The saran wrapped cake arrived in a white flimsy box. It lacked the dense texture of the ones my mother used to make; and it crumbled each time I tried cutting off a piece. I didn't detect any rum soaked fruit. As for taste, it leaves an after taste in your mouth. It is a total rip off and not worth buying.

Just perfect! My husband family is from Barbados. His Grandmother use to bake cake every Christmas, until she passed away. It was on time and packed properly.
