A Most Enjoyable Romp
I am a sucker for Oscar Wilde's wit, and there's no doubt that Lady Windemere's Fan (the source material for A Good Woman) is his funniest and most acerbic play. Director Mike Barker did a good job of updating the action to 1930 with its many stylist possibilities and directorial additions. The cast is excellent-- even Helen Hunt rose to the meaty role as the femme fatale. As first she looks sorely miscast, but she grows on the viewer and by the end wins us over. Scarlett Johannson and Tom Wilkerson are naturals for the roles, and the British character actor Stephen Campbell Moore is the perfect bounder. Despite its lukewarm reviews, A Good Woman is a delightful antidote to our social distancing.

Rating the DVD Not the Movie - I Fixed the Problem
I just got the DVD, and it has two sets of closed captions. The one provided by Lionsgate are small, compact letter. But there's another set that has big white jagged letters. I want to turn the large jagged one off, but can't find a way to do it. If I can't turn them off, I'm going to return the video. This is way too distracting.UPDATE: It was the Subtitles (large jagged letters) that I needed to turn off. I figure out how to do it, so all is fine with the DVD now. Now, I just have the closed captions.
