Delightful
Hate to admit it however, I love this Electric Fireplace. I am 64 and have a wood burning gas fireplace. I used to burn 2 cords every winter. My landlord banded me from using the fireplace. And because of my age it was getting to be a hassle and expensive to have wood delivered, making a fire, worrying if it was out when I left, and cleaning out the hearth. Because of all the above, I opted to try this. And overall with the pros and cons I am so happy I did!I contacted the company on the weekend before I purchased to ask if the birch option was returnable since it didn't say 'Returns Accepted' on birch option with Amazon Prime however the oak was returnable. I got a quick reply over the weekend which was amazing and they said it was returnable if needed. I won't be returning, I love it! Remember it is not a real fire however far outweighs the hassle of real wood. Definitely makes the room feel cozy and my cat loves it. It does look real sitting on the couch and I love the glowing embers. It also has a remote. The remote didn't work because of the cheap batteries. I just replaced the batteries with Duracells and the remote worked like a charm. I have arthritis so the remote is so handy. And it has a heater that has an adjustable thermostat which you can also control with the remote. The noise is low. when the heater is on. And it really takes the chill out of the room. Amazing. The crackling noise is okay. You can always turn on another element for the noise of a crackling fire. VERY happy with my purchase. And overall I will save lots of money and helping the environment by using this amazing product.

Perfect if you love having a fire but don't love smelling like one.
The media could not be loaded. We love fires for the holidays and during the Fall & Winter. What we don't love is the entire house smelling like smoke. So I've been looking for one of these for a while. I decided to take a chance on this one despite it being on the pricey side because of all the ones I've seen it looks the most like an actual bed of coals with logs. Let's start with the look: It looks amazing, even when not turned on. When it's on it's perfect. The bed of glowing embers with "flames" above them, topped with the logs just looks like a real fire. The rolling fire effect not only goes through the logs but also reflects off the back of the fireplace, which makes for a very realistic effect. We could not be happier with the appearance. It gives that cozy feel just as we were hoping. The heater is surprisingly strong on high and blows hot air quickly and powerfully. No complaints there either. As for the sound, it's a mixed bag. The crackling sound is nice & subtle on low, but on high sounds very tinny. This comes down to a small, weak speaker. I'm not worried about it because on low it sounds just right. On high my wife says it sounds like someone lit a fire in a tin can. I might replace the speaker with a better one down the road, but it's fine as is. A nice bonus in the manual is the back page is a schematic, which would make any repairs or upgrades easier. The wind sound is kind of pointless. I get what they were going for (a fire on a windy day) but the result sounds exactly like someone frying bacon in a pan. Not much reason I can think of to ever use it. Still, I'm not taking a star off for such a minor thing I'll never use. The remote is simple and easy to use. I guess it's the nature of the design, but since the remote sensor is tucked away under the "grate", you have to be sure to aim in the right spot for it to work.As I write this review I'm sitting next to the fireplace. I love the coziness of it, and every once in a while my eye catches the glow and my brain wonders why there's no heat coming off the fire. Then I remember it's metal and plastic. We really couldn't be happier with this. It adds the look (and mostly the sound) of a real fire without the mess and smell (first world problems, right?). I can't say how durable it will be but it feels solidly built, and other than the cheap speaker it feels well thought out. It's one of the more expensive ones...I've seen these for $100 or less on sale...but it looks much more realistic than the cheap models.

About same price as a cord of wood without the hassle.
The media could not be loaded. We live in a condo community with 6 villas in each building. We've had fireplaces before and carted in wood from a from a pipe frame for half a cord of wood. Then weekly we would clean out the ashes and yearly we would have a professional chimney sweep clean the fireplace, flue and chimney. We switched over to gas logs as it was cleaner and less expensive. Since we now love in a condominium, we have no place to put a large propane tank. As we love the ambiance of the crackling fire and the warmth provided for the living room, we opted to look at an electric log set. The Legend Fire logs are very realistic, provide heat with built in heater, thermostat and fan, it provides 6 settings of realistic crackling and wind noise, and best of all, no dragging in wood and cleaning the fireplace. To last through the winter, we had to purchase a half cord of wood (a rick of wood). For about the same price, we purchased this beautiful log set and look forward to many years of functionality and comfort without the hassle and cost of a wood fireplace.

Best purchase ever
The media could not be loaded. I bought the 23” Birch unit. I also installed the frosted plexiglass. As my fireplace is dark and I have decorative doors, it really doesn’t show. When not in use, the birch logs look great and improves the void of the fireplace. It was easy to set up and the remote works great. I did use my own batteries, though. The sound is less than optimal, but not a deal breaker. The heat output is fair and the fan is pretty quiet. But I will not use the heat function. I just tried the heat function to verify it works. The seller shipped quickly and I receive the item a week before I expected it to be delivered. I love that my fireplace is useable after so many years. Approaching 70 years old, I find that maintaining a wood fireplace too burdensome. This unit is a perfect solution. I am glad I listened to the reviewers and took the plunge to buy it. I am happy with this purchase and have no regrets.UPDATE: My adult children visited for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They told me, repeatedly, that buying this electric log fireplace insert is, hands down, the best purchase I ever made. And on one or two particularly cold days, they used the heating feature that warmed our 264 sq. ft. living room without overly heating the whole house. We couldn’t be happier if we tried.
