Foamtreads Jewel Slipper is a Better Jewel in the Foamtreads Store!
These shoes were chosen because the previous three sets of other model Foamtreads (Foamtreads Women's Kendale Slipper) had become wider, looser, and flattened in the heel zone over time. I was going to try a size 7.5 for a senior citizen, but the size-recommender said an 8M would be the best fit. That turned out to be a perfect recommendation. The forefoot at first appeared to be narrow, but the user reported that it actually provided a "natural" feeling fit and prevented her feet from sliding forward and bumping the toes into the fronts. The heel area is about 20% more narrow compared to the other Foamtread version. The opening for inserting the foot is slightly narrow but works okay. In fact the Velcro closures match up a bit better in this shoe model, though about 30% more on the upper surface would always be welcome.Generally the insoles in Foamtread shoes is pretty cheaply made stuff. For now this one is working okay. Eventually the closed cell foam bottom layer of the cloth-looking insole piece will self-destruct into dusty particulates. On The Kendale version, I was able to make the shoes 200% better by subbing in an Amazon German made insole (Bergal Exclusive Footbed), but those insoles may be too wide to fit the narrower interior of this shoe model.

Wear these almost everyday
Now that I have such a problem with leg and foot edema (swelling). Honestly, I bought them to wear as shoes because at normal size my feet are 9-10 and now they run 11-13 women's, or at least 12 men's. Before edema, I was a "shoe-aholic" even with a mobility disability. Compliments came, even though this is a SLIPPER. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone. These are machine washable, and accidentally ok in the dryer, too (although, not usually what I do).Like the velour, even though not usually a fan. They stay on my feet, too. I have a narrow heel, and a staggered gait when I do walk. Shoes that I like, look nice for the purpose, are comfortable and stay on are hard to find anyway. BTW, to give you an idea of the kinds of shoes I love: Clarks, Born, Merrill, Keen, 9 West....and I love these, too.Only reason for 4 stars is that the straps are indeed just a bit too short, although do-able....and I am NOT a person who sews...

Safety
I have worn Foam Treads for many years and love them. Having said that, I find that I am unable to wear these, which saddens me. The tread is slick on the floor, and I'm afraid of falling. I am a disabled person and I need a tread that will adhere to the floor to keep me "on my feet." I'm so disappointed.

Soft but not wide width
Color and fabric joyful. This shoe is really soft on all sides and I don't feel the sole. But I wished/thought that these were a bit wider near the big toes or a bit more fabric on top (the same effect probably). People with bandaged feet better buy a shoe that opens up on both sides and the heel. As Always, I appreciate the neat finishing, but cut one star for somewhat narrow front in "wide" shoe.ANOTHER REMARK TO AMAZON: You send mails and ask How does this product fit? My forced choice of somewhat small is not right, there should be a choice for wide in shoes, especially where the brands offer the "W" or other choices.

Nice slipper
I bought these prior to knee surgery because I wanted a slipper for the hospital that fitted snugly and had good traction. These suited the purpose perfectly: easy to get on and off; the upper fitted around the foot snugly; the Velcro strap allowed for adjusting snugness; and the sole provided good traction on the hospital floors. The negatives are: the footbed was a little too thin to be comfortable so I had to add an insole; and the sole provided good traction as long as it was never worn outside. Once I wore them outside on the sidewalk a couple of times for walking therapy, the sole pretty much wore away and became too slippery to be safe. (there are slippers available that can be worn outside.) I would recommend these slippers, keeping these caveats in mind.

But as they otherwise fit well and are comfortable, and they won't be worn for much walking ...
These slippers are slightly too short in length -- and I did order up a half size from my regular shoe size hoping to avoid that. But as they otherwise fit well and are comfortable, and they won't be worn for much walking -- just for being around the house --, I decided not to exchange them for the next size up because then they'd likely be too wide and loose in the heel. In terns of construction, stability, and general comfort, these slippers are exactly what I was looking for.

Great Slippers
I actually ordered these slippers for my mentally handicapped sister. She had a pair we had gotten her at a local store and loved them. Her original pair were wearing out on the bottom, so I ordered her a pair from Amazon. She LOVES these slippers. I think if she could wear them outside, she would!Very easy for her to slip on and very comfortable.

Well-constructed and nice looking. The heavy
Well-constructed and nice looking. The heavy, stiff trim around the shoe, going around the heel, bothers me. After wearing for less than 15 minutes the skin on my heel had been rubbed almost to a blister. The velcro closing makes most of the shoe fit well, but the toe box if very snug. I would not be able to wear socks with these shoes. Also, the label sewn into the insole is irritating. I would suggest getting a half-size larger, but I would not because of the stiff trim around the heels. A soft, padded trim would be much more comfortable. It's a perfectly nice product, just not for me.
