Appropriately Packaged
Package arrived quickly and was appropriately padded/protected. Unfortuately the drive itself, 32 TB Exos M (though new) was not working โ tested in two separate systems to be sure. Not sellerโs fault however and return process was painless.

Works very well, quiet, and fast. Worth it.
So far it's been more then a year and it hasn't given a single problem yet. When it starts spinning it makes a buzzing sound for a second or two, then its quiet. I've moved a few TB on and off of it so far, speeds are fast, capacity is slightly less then what's advertised (as is the case with almost every hard drive I've bought). Overall good purchase, I'll buy again.

Failed after 6 months - "fatal device hardware error" - not satisfied with warranty
Purchased in November 2023 this Seagate EXOS 16TB drive failed after light use as an external backup drive connected via USB 3.2 cable to my lightly used Dell XPS 8960 computer where for maybe four hours a day I do emails and spend time online and process and post my own photographs. In other words I am a home user not generating much data. The drive did a few full backups and then incremental daily backups since late November. For redundancy I used a second 16 TB drive on alternative weeks, a Toshiba X300, that is still working fine. So my Seagate EXOS only worked for three months actual work, doing about 10 minutes backup per day. Last week I was most unhappy when the Seagate stopped doing backups. Windows Computer Management > Disk Storage reported "fatal device hardware error" and could not access the drive... could not read the drive or write to the drive. Last Thursday six days ago I went to the Seagate website warranty page requesting a replacement and today, Wednesday, I received a replacement on my front steps. Very nice, very efficient. However, one huge problem. Seagate is requiring me to return the bad drive without removing confidential data. I just now had an online chat with a very polite support person telling them the drive contains a lot of confidential data and I want to make sure the data cannot be read. I explained it is impossible to use software to erase data on a drive that cannot be read and that I want to drill a hole through the disk to prevent anyone from accessing it. While I cannot access the drive on my computer, a technically skilled person might be able to access it using more advanced techniques or just fixing the hardware error. The person responded saying that drilling the hole will void my warranty. They added that Seagate's procedures and protocols will absolutely prevent anyone from seeing my data. I responded saying I know Seagate to be an honorable and reputable company, but that I know perfectly well procedures and protocols are not always followed. So... I am not at all satisfied with Seagate's warranty procedures. Customers should be allowed to obtain warranty replacement on a failed drive that the customer disables to prevent any access to confidential data. They send the bad drive in purely to provide proof of drive failure.

Excellent drives
I've had these up and running for about two months now, eight of them. They are doing their job very well. Might be a tiny bit louder when reading and riding than the NAS versions, which I would have bought but they're were'nt in stock. I've been very pleased with these and wouldn't hesitate to buy more.

Great for its size!
This is an excellent mass-storage device. FYI- It had to be hooked directly to the motherboard. My server bay maxes out at 16tb. But it works well and has given no hiccups or slowdowns on my server.

Massive, Risky, Storage
My first 32tb HDD arrived DOA and wouldnt spin up. After confirming it was dead (accross 3 machines to confirm before return) i initiated a return and ordered another. The vendor was excellent and overnighted the second drive, but i was out the money for BOTH until they received the drive back. The second drive works, but there have been two occasions where it failed to initialize on boot after less than a week of use. By comparison i never had any reliability issues with 16tb HDDs and own several. Its scary to have 29tb in one fallible unit. 29TB usable space. Noise is comparable to other enterprise drives, but a bit quieter than the 16tb models these replaced. I ran the serial on the drives and can confirm they were unused, new manufacture, per Seagate.

So far these work great in my NAS
Although there are mixed review about the longevity of these drives, I decided to give them a shot. They have been running since May (5 months) and I have not had any issues with them. They are fairly quiet when active and you hear the normal working noise of a physical drive. When is standby, it is completely silent in the NAS. I hope that I continue to have luck with these 4 drives. The build quality also makes the drives feel robust.
