Great
It could have been a little bit longer for the readers but other than that it was a clear and well taught story for children and adults!

Beautifully written informative story
Beautifully written informative story. I have bought this book for my son & most of the children I know so that they can read what life was like for that generation of our West Indian families during those times. I think this book should be read by all! Thank you Baroness Floella Benjamin, you are an inspiration.

Funny and thought provoking.
I read this book to my x4 year 7 Art classes at school as we are producing art work inspired by the windrush story and their own heritage.

Brilliant!
Such an honest account of her arrival to the UK, you can almost hear the narrative coming from Floella.Every quick read as 100 pages.Highly recommended.

Really good read
This is such a refreshing and conversational read. It’s not too much of anything but really lends a perspective of Caribbean life, life in a “developed” country and the cost of opportunities and “advancement”.

Three Stars
A simple story of a first experience in going to England. Pleasant but not exciting reading.
