Perfect extender to power Sonos Amp speakers via ARC
Great product that solved my unique use case!I used this extender to connect my TV on my covered porch to ceiling speakers powered by a Sonos AMP located in my basement (over 75' away). This setup outputs audio from the TV (via Cat6 and the extender) so that my porch ceiling speakers are essentially a soundbar for my outdoor TV. Works great and this is the only solution I could find that would solve this particular use case. Using this setup, I can watch a game on the porch and group the audio to all the other Sonos zones in my house so I never miss the action when taking a bio break! I also only need a single remote control for volume on the outdoor TV since it uses ARC (Audio Return Channel).Setup DetailsAn HDMI cable goes from the HDMI ARC port on my TV to the transmitter extender. I mounted the extender behind the TV using the included brackets for a more secure installation. The transmitter extender also has a cat 6 cable connected that is run back into the house to the receiver extender located in my network closet. The final connection is an HDMI connector from the receiver extender to the Sonos Amp to complete the loop. The receiver extender also has the power plugged in. See attached diagram for more details on the setup.Pros- Supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) unlike many of the other HDMI extenders out there. I tried a few :)- One power cable with flexibility to put it on either receiver or transmitter- Truly plug and play. Connect the approrpiate cables and make sure the dip switch is set to ARC and you are done.- Mounting brackets are included which make installation a breeze if you want to secure attach the extenders at each location.Cons- Cost. Would love if they offered a ARC only device for less money. I don't need the IR extender or any of the other features to solve my specific use case.

WARNING! -- ARC not as great as described
I've been using a 1080p over cat6 box for years, but after upgrading to 4k, I needed a new HDMI cat6 converter set. I got a new Samsung QN65Q8DTA TV, and am using a few year old 9.1 channel Yamaha RX-A2030 receiver. In order to do the streaming 4K thing, seems everything requires HDCP 2.2. Receiver is HDMI 1.4, so steaming through the receiver from a Fire TV or Apple TV wont work. I'll have to stream directly from the TV, or a device connected to the TV, for 4K content. This means I need the ARC to work.Tried another device, and although device has an ARC switch, it would just output audio to an optical on the receiver end, pretty pointless. So that didn't solve my problem.I got this because it was advertised as full ARC compatible. Description clearly states "Fully supports audio formats in HDMI 2.0 specification, including PCM7.1, TrueHD, Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X via HDMI. DD/DTS 5.1CH and PCM 2.0 via S/PDIF."Well, guess what? As confirmed by support, "HDMI ARC audio only support PCM or DD, so when TV in auto, i doubt it give DD+ or above."Well in my case, the TV is only sending back 2 channel when set in PCM mode. In Auto, the receiver does not receive any audio. When directly connected to the receiver (which was a pain, as receiver is in a rack in the closet, had to unhook everything, and roll it over to the tv) I got the surround sound from ARC just fine! So the problem was definitely in this extender set.Seems this is not all it's cracked up to be, so I'm going to have to return it.On the bright side, It does come with all sorts of non-pictured accessories! Mounting brackets, adhesive for IR, serial terminals.Sends 1080P just fine. Can't really test 4K, as everything requires the silly HDCP 2.2.Support seems to be foreign, OK English, response from "Bill" usually late at night, and <24 business hour turnaround via email so its not that slow. So I guess that's good.My next solution attempt is to get a device that converts HDCP 2.2 to HDCP 1.4. I'm not fond of replacing my $1,800 receiver. It already does 7.1 or 9.1 audio fine, $2K to upgrade to HDCP 2.2 sounds ridiculous. 99% of the functionally works just fine as is.

My ARC feedback issue came from my TCL Roku TV
The HDMI Cat5 network extender that was installed in a house that I recently bought died. The old system worked fine as a one way with my old 46 in Samsung from 2007, but once the TV was updated to a TCL Roku 65 inches with smart TV. It was very frustrating to not get a return from the TV to the receiver. Fast forward 12 months and the extender died, so I did some research and I found and purchased a new one from AV Access with HDMI 2.0 ARC extender (model 4KEX70-ARC-H2) here on Amazon.I was crossing my fingers as the sole reason to purchase this one was ARC and 4K return. I checked all the reviews and this one seemed to be the unit to purchase. My installation was typical and the distance between the transmitter and the receiver was well within the limits. As I mentioned, my goal was to get it to work with a typical installation (BluRay sending signal to the TLC Rody TV and the TV sending the signal back to the AV Yamaha RX-V575). I did upgrade the HDMI cables to 2.0 for the return. All new cables and the receiver and transmitter so the installation was supposed to be a breeze. And for the most part it was a very straight forward. The extender to the TV worked great seeing in 4K Terminator 2, with phenomenal sound and video. No interruptions or flickering. The challenge came with the ARC return back to the AV. Initially, it only worked for 3 seconds, and then stopped and the audio went completely silent. I checked the receiver following all the instructions and making sure the ARC was on. I unplugged the HDMI cable out of the TV, the TV speakers worked, and then, when I plug the HDMI cable the sound sounds in the AV speakers for a couple of seconds before it went silent again. I tried with Disney+, Hulu, Amazon video, Vudu, and all had the same issue. For some reason, the TV was trying to send a signal that was not being picked up by the receiver. I was able to control the TV audio sound from the receiver by turning ARC off (sound came out of the TV speakers but not 5.1 surround) and off (no sound coming out the 5.1 surround). It turns out that my TCL Roku TV was set-up in Auto for the CEC-ARC return. It turns out that after an update, the only option that sends the return sound is PCM-Stereo. This is interesting because after making the adjustment to PCM-Stereo, I receive full sound 5.1 from my Roku smart TV when I stream back to the receiver using all the different smart apps (Amazon Prime Video, Disney +, Hulu, etc). I was concerned about the quality of the cat 5 cable, because mine is cat 5 and not cat5e or all the above. You can get a cheaper extender if you do not want 4K or ARC, so I was really concerned about not getting all the features working (you can get a cheaper version for less features). However, like other posts mentioned the email support from this company is top notch. I sent them an email Sunday morning and I got a response Sunday evening by Ryan at [email protected] or [email protected]. Luckily, I had already solved the problem so I sent them an email back. They told me that the product has a 12 month guarantee and customer support so should not worry. So far, I am very happy with the sound that the TV is sending back to the receiver. I can fully utilize the 5.1 surround system that was built in the house and the quality is way superior to the TV speakers. I would definitely give a chance to the products by AV access. If it does not work with your current configuration the customer support will try to help you very quickly and if it does not work with your hardware, or it is faulty, you can always return it.------------------------------EquipmentTV: TCL 65" Class 6-Series 4K UHD Dolby Vision HDR Roku Smart TVAV Receiver: Yamaha RX-V575Blu Ray: Sony UBP-X700 4K Ultra High Definition 3D Blu-Ray PlayerHDMI cables: Zeskit CinemaPlus High Speed 22.28Gbps HDMI 2.0b

Saved me a TON of time and works great with 4K sources.
I bought an older home which had every kind of wire run behind the TV except HDMI. I was dreading having to fish a new HDMI up over the mantel and repair the Sheetrock. One of the wires I found behind the TV was an old CAT5 cable that was not being used. So, I popped Ethernet terminators on the cable and ordered up these boxes. I plugged them in and boom, works immediately.Great picture and sound from my cable box and 4K Apple TV.The best part is, I was able to relocate ALL of my video components to my basement and control them remotely with a Harmony Elite.I do occasionally get some artifacting/pixelation when watching TV via my Xfinity cable box. It’s not too bad. This is probably because I’m not using CAT5e or CAT6 cable as they recommend. But, I’ll take that over fishing a new wire for now.

HDMI ARC not working
I ordered the HDMI2.0 ARC [4KEX70-ARC-H2] hoping this would work with HDMI ARC as advertised. I even reached out before purchasing to confirm. I have it set up with ethernet cable to my TV but the sound drops out every 30 seconds or so in short bursts which is highly disruptive when watching anything on TV. Really unfortunate considering the cost of the product.Update: The AV Access team reached out to me and provided some troubleshooting tips and indicated they will work with me to ensure I am satisfied with the purchase. Working through things now and bumping up the rating to 3 stars until I see where things end up.Update 1/22/20I returned the device in December as agreed upon with the seller but so far I have not received a replacement device or any refund. I am out the $235 and am trying to figure out next steps to get a replacement device or get a refund.
