We wanted something that was more like a piece of furniture, looked nice, and helped the dog see out the window. I always read these reviews first before purchasing, so I took that advice before assembling. It arrived in a flat and heavy box, so be prepared as you may need a little help. All the pieces were included, and as suggested by others two sets of hands makes the assembly much easier. Each board is labeled with a letter and the directions don’t have much detail. You’ll need to depend on the pictures and pay close attention to the holes for the screws and pegs. We did a practice run and discovered we had flipped a board the wrong way. Once we were sure we had everything lined up the right way we started over and used wood glue on every peg. The pegs are for the short boards between each long board. Having read that some reviewers thought it didn’t hold together tightly over time I chose to use wood glue on each of the pegs for the short boards. I kept a paper towel handy to keep my hands clean as much as possible as I used the glue throughout the assembly. You will need your own medium sized Phillips head screw driver. There are small white dots of plastic with adhesive on the back to place over the screws for a more finished look. We put this together in about 80 minutes and it turned out beautiful. It looks like a piece of furniture and the gray and white goes perfectly in my brother’s home. It sits just below the bottom wood frame of his front window and with the pillow on top it’s just the right height for his dog to see out the window. The carpet squares for each step have Velcro strips with adhesive, so check your placement before removing the paper, because you aren’t moving the Velcro once pressed into place. The carpet removes for cleaning. His little dog is about 25 lbs with short legs and at first he did not want to get up on top, so we set him on top once and then placed treats on each step and the top pillow to entice him to climb. It took a full day before he was climbing up on his own and now he loves laying there and looking out at the world. The window perch is sturdy, beautiful, and a great value. We are very pleased with our purchase.

Purchased this unit to provide my pets access to a window view, as well as to store pet items used daily. Liked it so much I purchased a second unit to pair with the first.It is an attractive unit. Good quality, very sturdy and stable.Assembly instructions via diagrams were easy to follow, and assembly went quickly, except when it came to the point of adding a couple of pieces in the mid section where it requires a short screwdriver. It was difficult to tighten the screws due to the limited space, even with the short screwdriver. and I lost a lot of time assembling those pieces. Other than that, assembly went quickly.I wish additional fabric bins were available for purchase from the seller, as I would have liked to add a couple to match those that came with the unit.The units look great, provide needed storage and, most of all, a window view for my pets. I am very pleased with the purchases and I would highly recommend.

To start, I was super impressed with the packaging! Nicely packed & easy to put together. Very intuitive yet the instructions were easy to follow too. High quality and heavy duty piece. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is truly just because the stairs are a bit steep & a bit short. While it is a sturdy piece that can hold weight - the size & length of your dog will make a difference in its usability. I absolutely understand the size because it fits the provided cubby baskets but if they were somehow able to extend the steps , it would be an ideal piece. :)

This is one of the easiest pieces of furniture to assemble that I've assembled in quite some time. I'm not sure if people are getting different instruction books than me or what, but it was pretty standard in my opinion.Each piece is labeled with a letter (A-J or so, EXCEPT the stick on rug pieces weren't but it's obvious as they are 3 different sizes and only fit 1 place or another). The pictures in the instruction booklet implicitly tell you exactly which pieces are needed per step, as well as the hardware.Yes, the 2 sides of each boards have different amounts of holes so it is very important to pay attention and make sure you're following the diagram to ensure you've got the boards the correct way. I put one on backwards but it was pretty obvious when I moved to the next step. It was also quite simple to unscrew 2 screws, flip the board and carry on.I put this together in about 20 minutes but I also used a power drill. I can understand how it may take a little longer if you're not as experienced with doing this type of work but, I'm not sure how people are claiming it took 2 OR 3 HOURS! Obviously using a hand screwdriver vs a drill makes a difference but HOURS? I don't know about all that...Anywho, this is quite stable. We have a 25 pound cockapoo who took to it immediately. The top part is quite narrow as far as room to turn around but my pup just jumps from the top when he wants down. We are going to buy a second one to form more of a pyramid shape with stairs up either side, therefore allowing much more room for him to turn around and such.I would definitely recommend purchasing. It's such a unique piece of furniture that serves so many functions. I've placed it in my office/craft room and am in love with all the storage place this until provides. I'd buy it just for the unique storage and aesthetic! The fact that it's for my dog, and he loves it, just makes it all the more better.

If someone is handy in your household, I’ll be a piece of cake to build it. Me and my husband got it in less than 20 min, very easy to assemble and very good quality. Our puppy loves it and is very easy for her to use.

Even after being correctly assembled it wobbles. And I don't mean that it wobbles a little I mean that is unusable. My dog has fallen off it 3 times because the whole thing almost topples over.Its so unstable that I was convinced I had put it together incorrectly but after taking it all apart and putting it back together again this time using wood glue to make it as secure as possible its still useless.Will be requesting a refund.

It took 1.5 hours to assemble by myself (screwdriver no drill). But it was very straightforward. It was just hard to do alone as it’s hard to balance the pieces to assemble.However, totally worth it. My cats instantly used it and continue to. I got it for one of my cats as she has health issues and this puts less stress on her to jump up and down from the counter.It looks great and high quality.

Simple to assemble, very sturdy, no weird smells or structural issues, measurements are spot on. My 8-lb dog loves it and uses it every day. Would not recommend for an animal over 10 lbs or for more than one animal to use at once as there isn't enough surface area on the main cushion. Totally worth the money.

Took two of us to figure out how to set these steps up as they came with no instructions. After several attempts we decided to work from top to bottom instead of bottom to top and then it came together quite fast. They are sturdy but I would not recommend a dog over 10lbs a large dog or one that has arthritis to use these. I have two small dogs both are 6 and just under 10lbs one with long legs and one with shorter legs and they are both having difficulties climbing up and down each stair. Each step is not long enough for them to climb up on or down on and stand while climbing or descending to the next step. Because of this they are finding each step to high to easily climb up and down with out having to go fast so are very scared to use them. I will see if I can modify them as I have already returned a set because of postal damage, that being said customer service is great. They should have made each stair a little longer and maybe added one more stair so each step would not be quite so high to climb up or down for small dogs. Also include a couple of more baskets or the option to buy extra.
