My young son asked for a 'toy house' for his 5th birthday. This Melissa and Doug house ticks all the boxes. We had a task on our hands to find a house that wasn't pink (why do toy manufacturers feel the need to gender toys????????), but this is perfect. The size is good too. It was a little bit fiddly to assemble in places, but I managed to put this together on my own (it would be a lot easier with two people) and it is sturdy. The instructions were clear. My son absolutely loves it and plays with it daily. The open nature means he can easily reach in and move the people/furniture around. It's also lightweight, so he can move it around his room depending on how he's playing with it. He plays really imaginatively with it. A wonderful, traditional toy that we've really got our money's worth on. We also bought the car and doll set to go with this.

De très bonne qualité, une bonne taille pour deux enfants, ma fille y mélange des Playmobils, des poupées assez grandes et les poupées qui étaient dans la maison. Côté pratique, c'est bien solide et les pentes de toit s'enlèvent. Le descriptif annonce qu'en plus arrive comme cadeau une petite voiture et des occupants mais ce n'est pas le cas. Les meubles sont bien sans plus mais ça va parfaitement d'autant que les enfants trouvent pleins d'autres choses à rajouter et c'est ça qui est vraiment bien, une maison pile poil pour laissez leur imagination prendre le relais...

Bought this for my goddaughter's 4th birthday along with the castle figure set. This is a lovely well thought out toy. It opens up to give lots of little rooms to play in. It seems nice and sturdy and well presented - the treasure room and treasure chest are a definite hit - thought please note one is not allowed to take horses through the castle as they don't live in castles (I've been reliably informed by said 4 year old :) ). The fact that this all packs up into itself is great - means it's easier to store when not in use, and the carry handle makes it thoroughly portable. The description is accurate, so you only get the prince and princess with the horses as figures to play with (hence buying additional ones with this set). It's a good starter kit though, and one you can add to over time which I think is a nice touch.
