Seriously, if you’re going to trek around in some far away country, the lonely planet travel guides are a great source of information and a bargain at the price. Quit going online and asking for info when everything (and more) you need to know are in these books.

Covers the overall history, locations and places to visit in Vietnam very well. Highly recommend. Only drawback is the small print but considering all the information packed into this book it's understandable why this style print was used.

Extremely thorough and helpful.

Just wasted 20 bucks on this book thinking it would have more and more up-to-date info than my old edition. But it seems that Lonely Planet isn’t interested in actually sending people out to update their stuff anymore. After using their guidebooks for 30 years it is painful to watch this institution go down the toilet. Another victim of the Internet, I guess.Save your money and just Google everything.

As soon as Vietnam was open again after covid we jumped straight onto a plane and headed straight to Saigon (HCMC) for a packed two week trip and this guide book was great in helping to plan the trip and things to do once we got there. Awsome book and that bit better than other available travel guides.

Really helped in planning my trip to Vietnam. While I was sceptical because the internet is a vast tool, it really highlighted things I am interested in and didn't even know it!. I also like that it has summaries of areas, tips and tricks to look out for and narrows down the areas I want to stay in. Great book!

Update for all Vietnam travellers with all the best places to go stay and eat. Worth the purchase.
