Works okay. You probably want an air pump with various flow control so you can tune in how it opens. My air comes out a little too strong to let it fully close and then open. Try and get it flat with the bottom of your aquarium otherwise the door may not function like it should. Some trial and error required for it to work like it should.EDIT: get this before setting up an aquarium. If you have any other air stones on the same line as this, it will take quite a bit of fanangling. Plus this thing has the smallest of tubing that it connects by. Every time I tried to move it the tubing would come out. It caused a great deal of frustration and I finally just left it un plugged and capped the air line for the time being. I'd like to find similar sized tubing to install on it and then try and get it to work properly.

Please note your air pump might be too strong for this attachment. I used and very small pump with a flow regulator to release only a small amount of air so that the door would stay closed until enough bubbles filled the lid to open it. Otherwise you will have a constant stream of bubbles coming out of it. You won't get the true animated effect. Great product and well built design. Easy to clean.
