Great read
Intriguing theoretical science based SF set amidst global politics with the intent to save Earth from being eviscerated by an approaching black hole. Fascinating and warm characters. Very entertaining!

Awesome story
I love good, hard Sci-Fi, and this is good, hard Sci-Fi. It’s very clever in use of facts and theories in the weaving of the plot. I don’t know if there is a sequel but I sincerely hope so.I heartily recommend it.

What an awesome novel
I am an avid reader of various genres and found this novel one of the best most thought provoking i have ever read, the entire tale fell seamlessly together so much so I finished in one reading and even before writing this review downloaded the next installment. If your reading this review in not going to spoil the story for you, but you obviously like sci fi novels or you wouldn't be here. Download now and prepare for warp factor one - engage.

What a Long, Strange Trip!
This has been wonderful! So glad that he overcame his despondency and didn’t leave the “manuscript” in his “desk drawer”. Full of characters that you actually care about, hard science fact informing a strong narrative. Although an understanding of astrophysics shall forever remain out of my grasp, it never fails to fascinate me and the author presents remarkably plausible breakthroughs, informed by his own particular field of expertise, in an unchallenging and refreshingly readable manner. In an ideal world, this Guy’s books would be on a shelf next to the works of Heinlein and Niven, not that he owes either of them very much at all in terms of influence. Damned good sci-fi at its very best. <I’m sure that there’s redundancy in that last sentence but, “Frankly, My Dear…”>I’m currently stockpiling his work, to tide me over when we’re all evacuated underground and that rogue black hole starts chowing down on our Solar System, choosing Saturn and Jupiter as an entrée.Just finished Freedom’s Last Gasp!Same applies as above but more so. Brilliant again. So clever and well-researched. Let’s coax him into continuing this potentially epic tale…I just know that, by his own admission, he’s just got a million ideas that he’s ready to shape into a new novel, should his readers give him sufficient encouragement. It’s clear, from reading the notes that follow the Epilogue, that the author experienced something of a struggle to get his work published on his own terms. He’s not been coy, just cautious and understandably so. Hope he does write more in the series.

unusual idea
unusual idea, but well written and researched, in a book this long the main characters could have beenworked out a little more. But on the whole, a more than good book

Fast moving page turner
Read this book so quickly, a real page turner. The focus is on using science to solve a problem. Relationships and chracter building are appropriate in scale and serve as a backdrop. I loved it and can't wait for the next one! In balance think The Martian. Less hardcore than Stephen Baxter so novice scientists would be OK. No offensive, violent or sexual content so good for ages 12+ but without being too simplistic for adults.
