Reform School Cinderella, the newest novel from the talented and kick ass funny Frank Conniff (Mystery Science Theater 3000's TV's Frank) is so subversive, I'm shocked it made it through society's gatekeepers.Conniff takes the "Fairy Tale" stories that all girls are exposed to since being a toddler and kicks it 180 degrees and creates a world where girls are worthy and mean something and contribute and think and act and are fierce. A world where they don't depend on a man for their validation.Let me kick away the soapbox. This book is damn funny. The main characters are rich, well rounded women. They are also trapped in a world where independence is not "appropriate"and must be punished.First, we meet Laura a sixteen year old typical American girl stumbling through life with all the heavy angst every 16 year old carries. Through a glitch in a space time continuum, Laura finds herself with the real Cinderella. This one is a badass and does not play by the make believe world and she and many others like her are sent to a reformatory school to get "right". This is Laura's world now, too. How they survive, thrive and keep hope alive is funny, endearing, and the girls need their wits about them and some cool martial arts skills too.Look, it has gotten so much better today with young female protagonists living a life that is valued to them and others. It is unrealistic to think the stereotypes have gone away. As long as Grimm's Fairy Tales and early Disney are around, parents will still expose their little princesses to becoming big princesses. Here is one alternative that shows life doesn't have to be this way.Oh and let's clear this up: Reform School Cinderella is not a book that "hates" men. It is an endearing, charming, funny novel about girls and the value they have all by themselves. If you have girls in your life, get a copy of this. It's a much better world when we value each other.

Another Gem from Frank Conniff
I absolutely loved this book. Frank Conniff turns the fairy tale world upside down, and it's not just funny, it's smart and touching. The story has a wonderful narrator with a strong voice, and she's a teenaged girl. So well done.

Four stars mandatory!
Once you read this book, you will understand the "four stars" joke. "Reform School Cinderella," as a YA fantasy-fic novel, is a bit of a departure for comedian Frank Coniff. But his hilariously sarcastic comic style works perfectly in this novel twist on the Cinderella classic. Coniff is no Gregory Maguire, and that's just fine for this fun story.

Should I review it?
At risk of wearing a straight jacket I loved this book and thought it was hilarious. People drive each other crazy and no one's life is really a fairy tale all the time but no one person has a monopoly on bad or good. I think that's my takeaway lesson here. All the rest of it is jokes and that's why I love Frank.

Loved it.
Very funny, I'll be buying more of his books. I bought this one because a friend of a friend of a friend had the cover as his profile picture on Facebook and it caught my eye.

An updated version of a familiar fairy tale
“Reform School Cinderella” is a very funny and clever novel, which turns the familiar fairy tale on its head. The book was supposed to have been written for young adults, but even those who are only “young at heart” will enjoy reading this.
