This is a Fantastic Collection of Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brasses Fantastic Hits. This music brings back so many memories for me as a kid listening to all these Great Songs.

Growing up in the sixties and seventies, I heard many of the tunes on this CD umpteen times. The tunes were great then, and even better now by today's super-lame standards of what is considered good in new music. Really, let's face it, the music industry has completely gone to the bog. Everybody downloads music for free and the record industry seems to be run by talentless people who sign groups of lawyers with instruments. They would like to blame file sharing, etc., but they are ultimately responsible for their own demise. Who wants to pay a ton of money for swill. Most new music sucks today, plain and simple. This album is a great collection of music. I am sure that even kids who didn't grow up anywhere near the time when these tunes were produced will still recognize many of them. For me, it is one of the preferable collections that I have seen because it concentrates on past hits. I am not partial to the newer stuff. So when I get in my car and pop in this CD, I can take a drive down the nostalgic road of the 60s and be happy thinking about a time when most music didn't suck and oil was used to make vinyl instead of waterproof pelicans.

I grew up with Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass and remember seeing them at the Ohio State Fair when I was a kid. Their music was so different, original and catchy that I found it to be irresistible. And it still is! When I got into high school band and started playing an instrument, it gave me a whole new appreciation of the talent and complexity of their music.The most difficult thing is taking this out of the CD player to listen to something else. :-)

First, you have to be old enough to remember the impact his instrumental music made on the times. The music was so good and so up-tempo it was used on TV as theme songs for programs and in also in movies (i.e. Casino Royale). If you can remember when there was AM radio and stations played an instrumental leading into the news at the "top" of the hour, then you will like this compilation of his greatest hits. This was the best overall collection that I could find offered on CD.

This CD brings back memories of the 60's when the Tijuana Brass often hit the charts. This is a great compilation of their greatest hits. It also includes Herb Alpert singing "This Guy's in Love With You", one of the best love songs of the period.

Love the album. That's right we called them "albums ", a collection of songs or pictures. It's ok, I am a boomer.

The music of Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass takes the listener back to a simpler, happier time. The perfect arrangements of these fun melodies transports me back to my youth, listening to my mother's albums. This is a great collection of timeless music, and at 25 songs, quite generous. If you love great music, get this disc while you still can!

流行は繰り返す、無性に聞きたくなる時があります。最近良く耳にします。古さを感じさせず新鮮さすら感じ、癒されます。いい曲ばかりです。今の時代は音楽に限らず、どの分野も低調で、否、成熟期で多様化しているのだと思います。若い世代が曲を耳にして、良いと思う。それ故に繰り返されるのだと思います。ハーブ・アルパートは自分の曲をセールス（録音）する為にレコード会社Ａ&Ｍを興したのです。Ａはアルパートを意味します。全編、マリアッチ。プラス、ぴりっとビートを効かした感じです。ハーブ・アルパート＆ティファナ・ブラスが演奏するとアメリアッチ。その頃はそのように言っていたような気がします。ジャズ風に言うと少人数編成のコンボバンドです。　「The Lonely Bull」和名「悲しき闘牛」が日本デビュー、この曲の発売からすでに55年が経とうとしています。奇しくもビートルズのデビュー曲「プリーズ・プリーズ・ミー」と同年の発売です。今にして思えばすごい時代だったんですね。　内容は1960～’70年代のヒット曲、モノラル、ヴォーカルあり、古い録音に拘わらず、鮮烈とは違うが、音は上も下も適度に伸びて、どの曲もすっきりと非常に聞きやすく、スピーカー間に並んでステレオ感は抜群です。小編成のたまものでしょうか。Ｔペットをブローではなくて、軽いタッチで演奏するので耳に触りません。やはりメキシコ系の曲になると軽快でいいですね。そう、当時はドーナツ盤をポータブルの小さな電蓄で聞いていました。今はタンノイで聴いています。今また、アンプ付きのレコードプレイヤー（USBが付いている）が人気ですよね。電蓄とは言わないのだろうか。

やっと届いたので安心しました。予定の到着日夜５日ほど遅れましたが外国では当たり前で運送はアメリカは弱い。ヒット曲がおおく挿入されているので今は貴重。

マルタ島の砂が日本で入手困難になっているとは思いもよらず。タワーやHMVの輸入盤で検索してもこのCDはありませんでした。マルタ島の砂は30年以上前ですがFM大阪でポップスのベスト10番組のテーマ曲でドーナツ盤で持っていました。CDで欲しくなり購入しました。ハーブアルパートの曲は、オールナイトニッポンを筆頭に番組のテーマ曲やBGMに良く使われていてどこかで聞いたことのある曲ばかりです。1曲あたりの演奏時間も短いのであっという間に聞けました。

アナログレコードでしか持っていなかったのでＣＤが入手出来て嬉しいです。

ビタスウィートサンバは他で抑えたのですが「マルタ島の砂」を探してました。気に入りました。お勧めです。
