Enjoyed This Book
I liked the background material Mr Guardia supplied for the soldiers of Ghost Troop and the training they went through. Also where each one of them ended up after the war. The battles were described well and the personal stories kept the book interesting.

For the military enthusiast
This book is for the military enthusiast, which is clear if you know anything about the author. It is incredibly detailed, and technical, down to the type and number of amo soldiers had during their deployment. As someone with no military background the detail and technicality was a little lost on me but the general idea of what these soldiers of Ghost Troop had to go through was quite interesting. I was a kid when this was all going on so I especially liked reading the history and understanding why this conflict happened and how it compared to experiences in Vietnam. It was also wildly interesting to hear that such an elaborate tank battle happened so late after the world wars.Towards the end of the book, the author mentions PTSD for only about a page but I wish he had gone into a little more detail about the importance of getting help. I have personally seen someone I care about deal with the struggle of PTSD and reading through some of the stuff these men had to endure (there were even some pictures for extra punch), it should be emphasized that it is no joke and I truly hope all the Gulf War vets have gotten any help if needed. All in all, highly recommend to a military or Gulf War enthusiast.

Another knockout from Guardia!!
Mike Guardia's Days of Fury is another fine addition to his collection of works. The author, Guardia, must put in a tremendous amount of effort into the books he writes. They are well thought out, action-packed, and fast-paced. I particularly enjoyed Guardia's other works such as Tomcat Fury, and Wings of Fire. Those two books are specifically about the F-14 and F-15, while this book is primarily focused on the tank battles of the 1st Gulf Storm operation. Guardia has a talent for bringing military battles and the such to an exciting light as he tells their story on paper in such vivid detail I could easily close my eyes and picture the scene unfolding before my eyes. Days of Fury gives background to the conflict, and insights into how the various enemy combatants could have had for their mindsets, from draftees who would rather be anywhere else, to the Republican Guard who would fight to the death.Guardia includes a bit of humour to his book, from the antics of the Allied / American forces to the tomfoolery of the defending forces, who at the time I believe had the fourth-largest army in the world. Guardia is respectful to both sides, often giving context that me as I curious reader might be lacking. Guardia paints a more nuanced picture than it's the good guys versus the baddies. Guardia is skilled in his ability to tell a story and I'm honestly surprised he is not a scriptwriter for the History Channel. His books have yet to disappoint me and have a great deal of reread value. I highly recommend this book.

Gain Understanding of what was really going on in Desert Storm
Here is a dandy for your library. Days of Fury, Ghost troop and the Battle of 73rd Easting by Mike Guardia is an excellent view into the behind the scenes of our modern day hero warriors. These dedicated folks that keep us safe do not get the recognition they deserve in keeping us safe by risking their own necks. Mr. Guardia takes us into the details of character/ soldiers as well as the political climate of the region and the world’s view. His presentation of the facts gives us intimate details of the operation and what was really going on. I enjoy how he gts almost into the head of Sadaam Hussein and his rise to power and why he acted not only in the Kuwait invasions but also the Iraq/Iran war earlier. Guardia’s descriptions of the units and what equipment they deployed and their planned maneuvers are elements that I found intriguing to the strategy of the conflict and made a lot of sense why our troops were so successful in Desert Storm. I feel safe knowing the great care and training that occurs with our troops along with solid equipment deployed has created a top notch force. I am happy that the book was written and I had the chance to read the real story of what occurred as it goes into much much more than what was explained in the media. The photos and their captions with relevance to the story really help the reader understand the people and create a connection. This is a good read that you will enjoy about a historic moment in US and World history that occurred in the not so distant past.
