Life is a fairytale
Marie-Louise von Franz studied under Jung and is, besides Jung himself, the best known of all of the Jungian psychologists. This book, the fairytales involving the Hero's Journey, encapsulates many of the various archetypes, that is, types of people. Besides finding the, to be sure limitted number of, ways that people are so that we recognise the various types, she presents all of these wonderful fairytales and she does them very fully. She brings a woman's touch to the tales, too. It is almost the chatty girls corner of the room when she is speaking. I hope you understand that. It is great to see that happen in print from an educated woman and as nearly as I can see, she is generally that way in her work. So, here you have not just the sense of the psychology, but fairytale stories that read fluently as though your mother were reading them to you, but remember, they are very adult stories just the same. It is a fun book. The series is a collection of her works, so you probably have some of this in other forms already if you have known von Franz for long. The publication of this series started on her 100th birthday and this is volume 2, brought out in 2021. The other volumes will come over the next 10 yers or so. It is expected that there will be 28 volumes on the many topics of her knowledge, not just fairytales. She was a very prolific writer and in demand everywhere.
