Sail Out Version

A Candidate for One of the Top 10 Albums of 2013
I live for this sort of blessed discovery. Jhene is fascinating and enthralling. With remnants of Frank Ocean, I hear this as one of the finest of the year. From the first single, "3:16 a.m." to "The Worst" featuring a thought provoking flow by Kendrick Lamar. Jhene is said to be influenced by John & Yoko Lennon's "Bed Protest", thus we have "Bed Peace". The song that has me captivated me most is "Stay Ready". I welcome challenging music of this nature. By the break, I am floating on the chord changes. There are sprinkles of what The Robert Glasper Experience offers. It is great to see "Sail Out" topping iTunes R&B Album chart and I now understand why. It has stayed in the Top 5 since its release this summer........it is really a great blend of hip hop and R&B despite of it being on Def Jam. Of course, Def Jam today has only tangible relations to its origins as street hip hop from Hollis, Queens. It belongs on the overall chart, but, it seems unrealistic to place it in any confining genre. Regardless this is a celebratory experience that I welcome with glee for its innovation and thinking of it beyond boundaries. I have since invested in another "Unreleased" CD by Jhene and there is a beautiful song "For My Brother" dedicated to her brother who transitioned from cancer a couple of years ago.Apparently Jhene is considered in some circles as part of "hipster R&B" which sounds like a modern day version of neo-soul. With so many states finally passing medicinal mari laws. Right at the onset, she celebrates the wonders of a a vapor smoking machine. "Can I hit again, can I hit again"......, "Sail Out" could be the campaign or theme songs capturing all the positives that altering your perception/environment can be an enthralling experience. Breaking up the mood is an uptempo, Motown/Pop Soul of "Let it Go" for you to feel another side of her creativity. The production is absolutely captivating and I found myself floating into another dimension of emotions and emotive expression. There is nothing negative I could say about this album except it should be a full length album. Yet it will undoubtedly inspire the smart ones to seek out her other releases via Mixtapes and unreleased compilations.

Amazing CD, Amazing Artist
I listened to the album on YouTube before purchasing and I fell in love with Jhene Aiko's voice and sound. the CD gives a type of tranquil/cool R&B vibe and I love it. gave this 4 stars only because the back was cracked. I didn't mind so much though because the disc was the only thing that mattered most and it was working perfectly fine.

Wonderful Voice
She is very talented and I love her music but I don't smoke or drink so its kinda awkward that every song has cursing, and talks about smoking and drinking. Cannot play this around kids at all. She should consider making a few songs that everyone can relate to and eliminate some of the cursing.

Very nice CD
I've never heard of Jhene Aiko, but when I heard her one song that they are playing on the radio, I had to have it. The CD is nice, but I wished there were more songs on it and I wish the songs were longer. I can't wait for her followup...

Urban "Sade" reincarnated
This cd is soooo good and soooo underrated. Wow I liked Jhene Aiko's song "the Worst" but the whole cd is good I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. She is like the 2nd "urban" coming of Sade (whom I love). With so many artist now sounding the same or trying to see who can push the envelope the furthest she is a breath of fresh air.

Love it!
I have been a fan of Jhene since 2002 when she was signed to TUG. I hated the fact that she took a break, but I was very happy when she made her return, and she's doing the music that she always wanted to do. This is a great tie over until her album comes out. She did not disappoint, and I love every song. My favorites are Stay Ready/What A Life, and The Worst. Keep it up!

Actually like this artist
Her flow is interesting and while I was hoping for more it is an EP and most times priced correctly. 'The Worst' is definitely a good R&B track while the rest of the tracks have their own worth. It's too bad she had a falling out with previous labels and possibly didn't get to release what she was going to release. Still a good album to add to your contemporary R&B collection.

AMAZING
5 stars because every track is amazing. I've listened to the whole EP countless times. If you haven't heard music from Jhene Aiko your missing out! Do yourself a favor and cop this asap. Her old mixtape "sailing souls" is also a must have. Her voice is so beautiful and therapeutic. Her lyrics are amazing and capture you with the fact that her songs are based on true stories. Can't wait for souled out!

A mix of upbeat and chilled tracks with Jhene Aiko's silky vocals
This album has some chilled tracks on it and I enjoy coming home after a long day at work to listen to my music. Sail Out has become part of my collection of favourites. I was meaning to order a different Jhene Aiko album with a similar name but by mistake ordered this one. I am happy with the album and love her voice so didn't feel the need to return it when I realised I had ordered the wrong one. Some tracks are upbeat and most are chilled, there are some collaborations that work really well and give the tracks something a bit different. Sail Out is not all samey, which I was worried about. I recommend this album if you like Jhene Aiko, Stay Ready, The Worst and Comfort Inn Ending are in my opinion the best tracks.

"Totally addicted to Aiko! OH-WOAH-OH!"
The CD arrived bang on time and to say I was excited would be an understatement. The EP has been on repeat for the last few weeks. I've literally played the whole thing twice a day - and in no way am I getting bored of it, or starting to like it less. My only criticism is it should be longer!Give her a listen - but be-warned - you won't be able to stop!
