the picture shows this unit to reach 450 f ....Is this true? Can this unit reach 450f?

None of the pictures shows 450. They all show 400. The descriptions all say 400. Nothing at all is 450. Are you looking at something else?

So why won’t toast regular bread? Is it under a different setting? Someone responded that it can toast

I toast my bread on the top rack at 400 degrees for 3 minutes. It doesn't have toast marks like a regular toaster but it still tastes pretty good to me. I've tried sourdough and regular white bread.

Does this put out a tremendous amount of heat? I know some similar ovens are said to get extremely hot on the back of them. Same with this one?

No, less heat than my standard oven. Until you asked this question I hadn't even thought about or noticed if it throws off heat. The exhaust is on the top of the unit and if I place a rack on top while its working the rack does get hot. All that being said, I love this thing! It has far exceeded my expectations. I use it every day.
