would this drive work in my PS3 as im looking to upgrade my internal storage? thanks

Hi I am not a PS3 owner but can offer the following. Please note that this drive is an internal drive. The hard drive I purchased was the WD 2TB 3.5” Blue Internal Having checked the PS3 specification it would appear that this drive is physically too big and you would require the 2.5” version. Also I understand that the maximum capacity that the PS3 can be upgraded to is 1TB however I note that some users have been successful with 2TB and some not. To be on the safe side I would personally go for the 1TB Hope this helps

Why does mine display as an ssd in windows?

There are too many variables to give you a right answer.I suggest trying google.

Do I need to put a battery in the hdd?

I see the product info states "1 A batteries required" which is probably the reason for this question. The answer is no, you don't need a battery and the product info is spouting nonsense. If John E. Allen had read the info he'd have spotted that and perhaps not answered the way he did.
