Highly recommend if you need to run your camera on a/c power
Item arrived well packaged, slapped it together, put it in my camera (sx 500 is), plugged it in, and no power.Of course I installed it with everything put together, failing to realize there is a removable rubber plug on the camera's battery door.Removed rubber plug, closed battery door, plugged barrel jack into battery adapter, and powered right up.Tested it on house power and a small inverter i use for camping, no issues. My main reason for purchasing this is that i do a lot of image stacking and motion sensor photography, so shooting 3000-10000 images, as well as leaving the camera running for days at a time is pretty standard for me. Pretty sure the laws of photography state that your best or most important photo opportunities happen while changing batteries or memory cards, this removes one of those from the equation. The 1-star review seems to be pretty standard for this type of product, usually left by someone who mistakenly thought this was a battery charger and can't own up to making a mistake.

Compatibility not as good as advertised
I have a Canon S120 compact. Nice little camera.Have to leave the door open for this to work. Camera won't turn on with the door open. There's a miniature toggle switch that gets flipped when the door is closed. I found a way to flip it by inserting a tiny zip tie into the opening,With the door open you can't put the camera on a tripod. Without using a 1/4-20 extender, which I've ordered. I'm assuming that almost everyone who buys one of these is looking to set up for a long video. Have to have a tripod. And an extender.I made it work but it's not really compatible. If you look at the line drawings in the camera manual you see that the connector from the supply has a very low profile. This thing is not that.

Be sure to look at the charging port end
Now the thing does work however in order for me to use this I have to leave the battery/sd card port of my camera open but if I do that I cannot connect it to a tripod, also the battery will possibly slid off if the port is not closed. If I do close the port the end of the cable will not be able to make a proper connection to the dummy battery. Had the cable end been thinner? I don't know what the proper phrase I need to use to describe it, if the plastic was a smaller diameter, it would have gone thru the ac port of the camera. If you look at all 3 images you'll notice that the 3rd one is different and also that the port end that I received is thicker than the first 2 images. I have for the moment decided to return this product and depending on the next one I get I may order from this one again in hopes that the next one is the very same one used in the first image, this post was written Aug 30 the images current used to show this product in the description may change by then, hopefully to better reflect the real appearance of this product. Beside that if I was willing to remove the sliding port to use the ac adaptor then this product as far as I can tell does work well.

Make Sure You Know What You're Getting
This isn't a rechargable battery. Its a mainline power cord so you can run the camera indefinitely like in a studio setting where a dead battery in the middle of a shoot could spell disaster and lost data. The "battery" that comes with it is just a plastic shell to line up the connectors. Don't buy this expecting another battery.I've also seen a lot of complaints on here about the set up on their cameras. I have an SX530, and the little rubber tab on the bottom can be completely removed by sliding it along the groove, allowing for the camera to be used while on a tripod set up. Once done, it can be returned to its place on the battery/memory card cover.I can't speak for other model owners, but I would encourage you to take a look at how the cover is attached.Otherwise, this works great!

Does exactly what it claims to do. Bad reviews simply didn't read the description.
Does what it's supposed to do. More importantly, it does exactly what it CLAIMS to do. It seems a lot of reviewers are knocking this based solely on their uninformed purchase. I had to MacGyver an elevated platform for my tripod to enable me to plug it in while on the tripod, but again, unlike other reviews, I am not going to criticize this product for issues that isn't the products fault. That is a baffling design flaw of many Canon cameras. So, while you want to be aware that you WON'T easily be able to use a standard tripod (with a larger seat for the camera) with this, and should make your purchase decision based on this, that does not merit a lower rating for this product.

Perfect - Just use a Tripod "bar"
Does exactly what I needed. Endless power! A reviewer whined and gave it 1 Star because you can't attach a tripod. They just gave your battery-only-camera an AC adapter!! OMG Just put 2 seconds of thought into it people! Use a tripod bar! Search amazon for tripod bar, extender, mount...
