Outstanding!
Wow that was an extremely thought provocating story that was so unique I'm interested where Ray gets his inspiration from.It started with an anonymous telephone call to the police regarding some kind of deadline only to discover a grusome murder in the cellar of a local hardware store. Great characters, strong story kept me enthralled to a great conclusion. Well done.

A great mystery story, well told
This is a slightly gory story about revenge and retribution. A number of people disappear, and are found one by one having been tortured and killed in the most unusual, and painful, way. Who is behind it? What is the motive? DI Gardiner and his colleagues work this complex case to unravel a trail of destruction going back years. The characters are totally believable and the story flows well. The book is really well written - you won't want to put it down until you discover the truth at the end of this twisted tale. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyable book.
This is my third book in the series and is equally as good as the first two. Gardener is a great character and his team is well rounded and has good back stories. His nasty characters rate with some of the worst I have met in other novels. I would recommend these and must admit have found them hard to put down.

Great story line with believable characters.
I read this book on my husbands 5 star recommendation, and was not disappointed. The story line held me from start to finish. I found the violence and torture quite unusual, which for me made the book that much more interesting. would recommend this book.

DI Gardener series Number 3. Gets better...
Implant, by Ray Clark. Published by The Book Folks. Kindle edition. I've known the author for a long time and I had access to some of his rough notes and early, unedited chapters. OK, there's a certain amount of gore and an unpleasantly delivered death or two, the latter hovering on the ingenious. The action is in a fictitious West Yorkshire location, DI Gardener and his colleagues for once away from the usual Leeds city location. Implant rushes along at an impressive rate of knots, which just might remind crime fiction enthusiasts that the toughest task facing any author is to respect real life police procedures and not let the book's pace sag.

Well written. Good characters. Rather gory plot though.

Unbelievable
I think this book should have been called 'Implausible'. The writer seems too concerned with producing sensationalism. Reading the description of the torture suffered by the first two victims made me feel unmoved, unimpressed and unbelieving. I got to 42% four days ago and don't know if I'll be motivated enough to continue. I quite enjoyed the first two books and might try book 4, 'Impression'. Another thing that irritates me is gimmicky titles for a set of books. There are some 1 and 2 star ratings and I would have liked to have read those but as so often happens, they are not available.

Thriller and Horror
Wow, this started out a bit slow and then took off. Good characters that expressed real emotion, and were determined to find the killer. Highly recommend this series.
