Good but not her greatest
It was a good read but not her greatest. For some reason I was never totally captivated as I have been with some of her others.

Very riveting
This book popped up in my recommendation list and I decided to try it. It was a good mystery and quite intense at times. Some parts were predictable but that didn’t matter. I enjoyed it very much

Midnight Exposure
Midnight Exposure is a gripping romantic suspense thriller that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. While on a camping/hiking trip in the snowy woods of Maine, college roommates Zack and John for the past two days have become lost in a blinding snowstorm. October 31st ... Halloween ... while searching for signs of civilization they smell smoke and hear faint murmurs of people's voices, they come to a clearing and spot a fire burning and run into a cloaked man with a knife ... unfortunately they are at the wrong place at the wrong time ... One of the hiker's body has been discovered, but the other hiker is still missing. Two months later on December 15th, photographer Jayne Sullivan, in an attempt to financially help her three brothers save their tavern in Philadelphia, and help pay for brother Danny's Iraq combat related medical bills, has reluctantly taken on an assignment with a one-week deadline for a sleazy tabloid, and traveled to Huntsville, Maine, to track down and photograph the reclusive renowned sculptor, R.S. Morgan.Reed Kimball is an ex-Georgia police detective, who has moved with his seventeen year old son, Scott, to Huntsville, Maine, after the murder of his wife. Seeking seclusion in his forest retreat, this reclusive man is determined to keep his new beginning as a sculptor from being revealed. While searching for the reculsive sculptor, Jayne runs into Reed, who claims to be a handyman. There is an undeniable attraction between them, but secrets from their past, and a serial killer who has targeted Jayne as his next victim, threatens their budding relationship and survival.Midnight Exposure is a riveting fast-paced romantic suspense thriller that will captivate the reader's attention and keep them guessing. Author Melinda Leigh weaves an intriguing tale written in the third person narrative with alternating perspectives from Jayne, Reed and the villain. The story is full of complicated twists and turns that will keep the reader on their toes as the mystery of the characters' and town's secrets unfold. The author's creative writing style tantalizes the reader with clues behind Jayne and Reed's past and secrets coupled with an intriguing look into the mysterious Druid cult's customs and sacrificial rituals. With a great mixture of mystery, suspense and romance, Midnight Exposure is one heck of a page turning thriller that you won't be able to put down. The author creates a cast of characters who are realistic and complex people, with past histories and secrets that draw you into their lives. Jayne and Reed both wear scars from their troubled pasts, there is a palpable emotional pull of strength and feelings that they embrace as survivors. I loved how the author portrayed the villain, he is one creepy dude that is seriously demented, I couldn't help but be intrigued by his obsession with Jayne. With a great supporting cast of characters, a scenic setting rich in detail and vivid description, and a riveting storyline that is so chilling and leaves the reader with an anti-climatic cliffhanger, Midnight Exposure is the first book in a series that will keep you wanting more. The second book in the series, Midnight Sacrifice, will be released in Spring 2013, it will pick up the storyline with the story surrounding around Jayne's brother Danny.Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review, and for hosting a virtual book event on my book review blog site.

Captivating!!
The first couple chapters of this book had me so confused….but I liked Jayne so I kept reading. I read this book in one night because each page and chapter had me completely boggled. I can’t even lie, I had anxiety throughout this book with all the twists and turns, drama, and unknowing. This book was great..can’t wait to finish the series!

Love Melinda Leigh!
Have finished all of the Scarlet Falls, Morgan Dane and Bree Taggert series (that are available on Kindle) and have loved every one! The novels draw you in immediately in the first chapter and the there is further plot and character development thereafter. The novels cannot be put down and have kept me awake in the wee hours. I can’t possibly review this book because I love all of them equally. I am just sad that I have to wait until more are released on Kindle. Highly recommend Melinda Leigh books and although there is an order to the series, they can stand alone, although I recommend reading in order as the backgrounds of the characters will make more sense.

I couldn't stop reading! Twisted story line but I have already downloaded the next book in the series. I have read many of her books and this may be my favorite!

MIDNIGHT EXPOSURE WAS OKAY READ BUT ......
but writing too bland for my taste. Would probably recommend it to someone. The characters not too believable and story was too long and I was getting bored!! I would not be rushing to read another at this point in time.PROBABLY BE MADE INTO TV MOVIE!

Wow, just Wow!
Hooked from the start, I binge listened to books 1 & 2 over the space of one very long night. By accident I read Book 2 before this book and having become seriously invested in all the characters, I needed to know more. Not only what happened, but why and how and what would the family would do next. I love stories that can be read as standalone but have interconnected characters. In this case through the Sullivan family. Scott Schumaker did an awesome job narrating this book. This was my first book by Melinda Leigh and I was definitely not disappointed, what an amazing Author. This fast Paced and thrilling Romantic Suspense book gripped me from the start and did not let me go even after Reed and Jayne found there HFN ending. There were too many questions I needed answers too. A brilliant nail biting plot, great characters that made me laugh and cry and sexual tension between the main characters that you could cut with a knife what more could you ask for. I can't say too much about the plot as I don't want to ruin the story for future readers. What I will say is that our heroes are very real, deeply flawed and loyal to a fault. They care deeply and are prepared to go to hell and back to protect those they love and in this series they have to. Most definitely a page turner with a lot of twists and turns. Interesting family, Intriguing story, this book has something for everyone - thrilling suspense, violence, romance, mystery, a few steamy but not gratuitous moments (after all in real life sex does not take place behind closed doors) as well as a truly evil Villain or two.A fascinating well written and very enjoyable book. I am so glad that it and the rest of the series were available to read and listen to for free with Kindle Unlimited or I might have missed this little gem. I will be buying the whole series to keep in my library. I thoroughly recommend this book to all adult readers, due to the content it is not suitable for younger readers.

Pretty good page turner
Great light reading for an evening in or a long journey. The plot is complex and absorbing and the principal characters quite well fleshed-out so that I found myself caring what happened to them and wanting the 'goodies' to win. It's a tad over-written at times, eg: 'She opened her eyes. The agony in their turquoise depths cleaved a rift in the center of his chest', or 'Jayne's heart stammered. Reed's eyes darkened as something was unleashed inside of them. In one swift stride he was in front of her. An inch of emptiness still separated them, but the heat from his body crossed the space.' If the plot hadn't been so absorbing, I probably would've chucked it aside at that point! The prime reason I've only given it 4 out of 5 is down to the ghastly pornographic shower/bedroom scenes about two-thirds of the way through. The writer has spent 200 pages amply demonstrating that the protagonists fancy each other rotten. The reader just knows that they'll make it into the sack together at some stage and all that was really required was to let us know when they did. A detailed description of their every grunt and grope wasn't necessary. For other readers who feel as I do, it's okay to skip this segment; no major plot developments occur until the gymnastics are over.I note that there's a sequel on the way. I'm sufficiently impressed to put it on my wish-list.

Mostly ok with some bad decisions
The story is ok, but it definitely reads like an early career novel. The number of the times the characters do something completely irrational or without thought to their safety in this book was painful to read.Thankfully the early behaviour of characters doesn't impact the final scenes as much as it does the early plot so it finishes alright.
