Blacksmithing Made Easy: Comprehensive Forging for Beginners Guide on How to Master the Art of Bladesmithing

I have played with iron off and on. I got this book for beginner level project ideas. Each of the projects get a page or so explaining what to do and a couple pictures. Safety, Basic equipment and sources for equipment are all covered. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to teach a begining blacksmithing class or trying to learn blacksmithing on their own. The only issue I have with the book is don't try and make the items in the order listed. The knife and hammer are not first items. Make every thing else first then try the hammer and finish by making your own knife using the hammer you made. Tom

This book seems like a good introduction. I liked the examples of items that can be made by a beginner. However, there was a term or two used that wasn't explained very well.

I have a kiddo that wants to work with metal and this book was a great introduction. He really enjoyed it and it prompted lots of other questions and research.

This is a book written for people who want to begin forging metals. It is clear and concise. If you can afford hundreds of dollars for safety classes, this may be an alternative for the most basic set up.

If you understand absolutely nothing about the heating of metal and shaping it into useful “things”, then yeah this book’s for you. I’ve been working with my hand since I was a teenager (30+ years), so this book was a big “duh” for me.

This book contained more good info than I anticipated!

The info was good, but a little more detail should be added for most of the projects at the end.

There really isn't much useful information in this book. The first part is ok as it goes over safety and setup, but the second half the author just skills over the various projects. I agree with other reviewers that the order of the projects is wrong. Everyone wants to make knives because of the TV show, but there is so much more to blacksmithing. Learn some basics first, then making a knife will be easy. (Or at least easier.)You won't learn much from this book. There isn't enough information for a beginner, and those smiths with enough experience to understand what the author skips over don't need it.

Arrived safe and sound. The book is well worth purchasing if you want to get into the field of blacksmithing. Lots of important information.
