Is this better than a maple stand?

Are the dimensions given for the bottom piece or the top piece? What are the dimensions of the bottom ?

Does this platform actually hold your turntable level? Since it is foam on the bottom I imagine it might not level the turntable very well.

Can I use it as a drum riser ?
