Gorton #2 1/2" VERTICAL MAIN LINE STEAM VENT, Brown

I purchased this vent to replace the main vent on my single pipe steam system. I noticed an improvement immediately with heat reaching the radiators quickly. The old vent hadn't been replaced during my time in the home and had very low airflow. The original was extremely heavy duty and this vent wasn't closet to the same build quality. It works well and I'll keep an eye on it to see how long it lasts.

Purchased three and two worked fine but one did not close .Returned defective unit and waiting to hear about refund or replacement.

Purchased this valve to bleed off right size of house faster. Defiantly did the trick. First one I purchased was broken ( the valve was stuck in closed position)

Ordered this to replace a main vent. It seemed a little funny when I opened the box but I installed it anyway. I realized the vent was locked in a close position after running the heat a few times. Ordered another one from a different company. It was fine. I would make sure you check these before you install. You should be able to blow into it and have air come out the other side. It shuts off when heated to the right temp.

My master plumber recommended this vents. It's the third brand that I've used in my 100 year-old home. I was advised to buy 2 and create a t-bar at the main pipe. They are HUGE, so be aware.

They don't come better than this, and if you need a large main vent, this is the only one to use. And it will be working long after your kids are retired.Just take note that you can pay 70% less buying at any real plumbing supply house.

I have had a total of 8 of these in the past 2 years. Two locked up after a year, and now two more have started leaking steam from the seams and bubbling at the vents. Switching to Barnes and Jones Big Mouth, much better quality and I will only need 1 per main instead of 2. Better quality and and $150 instead of $360 total cost.

Fixed some issues with my steam radiator 1 pipe system. Works well.
