Conté à Paris Conte Crayon 12 Assorted Landscape Set

I’ve been using Conté off and on for 20 years now, and while some people complain about how the “formula has changed” I can say that the old sticks I still have in my college art case are the same, or at least similar enough in quality to the ones I received today.I ordered 5 sets total. One basic set, 2 portrait sets, and 2 landscape sets. All were purchased from, and delivered by Amazon. One case was cracked a bit from being squeezed a bit, but *not a single stick was broken* in all 5 cases. Every one of the 36 sticks was unbroken. Please understand that while you are occasionally going to get a broken stick or two, exceptions like those pictured here may not be common. If it’s that bad, Amazon will replace them, but for the most part they are packed well enough to ship. I’m happy with my purchase, and hope that others have the same experience.

I have given Conté several tries now, and I just cannot recommend these, or any of the Conté crayons of any color. It's like drawing with a stick of sandpaper. Perhaps they were good once, but everything I've gotten from them in the last few years has a great deal of grit in the crayons (and pencils). This Landscape set is *far* worse than the sanguines I've given up on already (search for Pipo's chalk for an alternative). Lay this down, on any kind of paper, and try to smudge it and it's like rubbing sand into your paper. When you draw with light pressure you're likely to get hung up on a chunk of grit that has to be dealt with on a separate sheet of scratch paper. And you never know when that grit will appear, so good luck getting reliable and consistent results.The Conté name is famous, and the cost of the crayons often show it. But the quality is just not there.

great colors. Easy to work with.

I've only been using conte sticks for a few weeks and I absolutely love them. The colours are so rich and vibrant! For dry media, these are my go-to tools. I know there are complaints regarding their chalkiness, but I find them less messy and easier to control than pastels.This particular palette is absolutely perfect for nature drawings. Since I love drawing flowers and landscapes, this was perfect for me. I also have the Portrait palette; the two palettes together give me an incredible range to indulge in my creativity.

発色が良い。主線や細かい場所を塗るには十分だと思う。写真よりもかなり小さいので注意が必要。固いので５cmくらいの高さから落とすと割れる。ランドスケープセットに入っている肌色系はやや黄色が強い。日本人の肌には使えそうである。
