Hoping to trick my mom!!! ;-)
Wow!!! Let me just say....I have crocheted all my life and have ALWAYS had the desire to learn how to knit. I purchased a few things to get me started knitting and discovered I SUCK at it....NOT my thing but I certainly love the look. I stumbled upon a Tunisian crochet video and once I found a straight hook it was ALL OVER....I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I feel like I was born to Tunisian crochet once I figured out a couple stitches...BUT I still needed to learn what the heck I was doing so I purchased this book...8-)What an amazing craft!!! This book has really helped me learn all the ins and outs of Tunisian Crochet. The photo I am including is of my variation of a crochet double stitch into Tunisian crochet...I wanted it fluffy when it lays down and separated it so you can see the stitch...but up top you can see how it will look if it is just laying down. The red object is my eye glass case so you can see the size of the stitch. I managed to keep all the appropriate stitches and kept it from curling and the edges are all straight. This pic is my first project of just going wild after reading the book and doing a bit of practicing!!! I am well on my way to faking my mother out with some dish clothes and towels....She refuses to use crocheted wash clothes or towels...Her insistence is knit ONLY...Wish me luck!!! ;-)

A fantastic addition for any one just starting with Tunisian crochet.
While I have only been crocheting for several years now, from the start I found and fell in love with Tunisian/Afghan crochet. Kim Guzman's book is one that should be at least looked at for those just starting to familiarize themselves with the style and the projects she includes are both easily understood/followed and can make for great gifts to family/friends. There are several basic stitches covered with this book, Tunisian Simple Stitch, Knit Stitch, Reverse Stitch, Extended Stitch and one or two others that are enough to keep you busy working the projects in the book as well coming up with some on your own.Instructions are easy to follow and are accompanied by pictures to allow you to see exactly what is being described. Some of the pictures however can be a bit difficult to determine just exactly what is going on due to the selection of yarn/color of yarn. Not many mind you, one or two that come to mind and if you have trouble with those in the book you can just go to her website where she has tutorials. This book is one that can lead to many hours of crocheting bliss as well some fantastic ideas for creating your own designs.

Very nice book
Looking for a second book on Tunisian crochet information and patterns, so I ordered this one. It arrived 1 day early, yeah! Looked over the book and I'm very pleased with it. Even tho it arrived via USPS, there were no torn or bent pages. I think next time I order from Amazon, I'll double check and pay the difference so that UPS delivers instead of postal service. I really enjoy doing Kim Guzman's patterns, also has free patterns on-line too, and can't wait to start the scarf on page 14. Thank you for sending a top notch product. Would recommend this book to someone wanting to learn to Tunisian crochet and it's patterns!

Great book for exploring new things! GREAT SERVICE! Great copy! Happy to GET THIS BOOK!
I love exploring my talents and feel this book is one that enables that capability. It is a beautiful book that arrived in new and good condition. I was very pleased and it is among my ka-gillion craft and fiber art books, however, it is the only book I have devoted entirely to the subject of Tunisian crochet. I will work through projects in it as time allows. I am please and recommend this if you are learning how to do this.

Disappointed
Disappointing. I want to learn more tunisian stitches and bought this book because other reviewers said it had good pictures that showed the stitches. It does but the instructions are still hard for me to understand. I started to make the cowl but you need to ch 156 and I couldn't fit 156 stitches on my hook. Not sure how you make bigger pieces. I'll keep at it. I saw the same book at ACMoore.

Very Good....
Despite having been a crocheter for over thirty years, the art of Tunisian crochet has been difficult for me. Guzman has written a very good book that details this craft. The patterns are desirable and wearable, without making feel like a frump. Try it, I do not think you will be disappointed,

A bit disappointing.
Having seen some of the wonderful things that can be done with Tunisian crochet, this book was a bit of a let down, to be brutal. The pros: it will introduce you to the basic techniques of Tunisian crochet, and it has a handful of patterns to get you going. The techniques are reasonably well explained though some of the descriptions/diagrams aren't the clearest. It will get you started on the basic stitches and a few slightly more unusual stitches. The cons: the patterns are not at all inspiring. Granted, the beginner doesn't want anything tooooo ambitious, but these patterns are kind of dull. While I understand that part of the selling point of the book is "use crochet skills to create items that look knitted", it's as if the potential of Tunisian crochet is ignored in favour of patterns that really only mimic knitting and don't do so in especially exciting ways.Considering it's supposedly aimed at beginners (since it's right there in the title!) I'd think that some more creative but not complex projects would be a better selection. There's a scarf that's just tunisian knit stitch (boring) and then on the other hand there are cabled mittens (possibly overly ambitious, and ironically, still not that interesting).Overall, it's not a bad intro if you have no other resource from which to learn the craft, but there were only a couple of stitches mentioned that aren't in my 24 year old second hand Reader's Digest needle craft book, and there are several (more interesting) stitches in the RD book that don't make an appearance in this one.I think it's a bit overpriced for a book that's not remotely comprehensive, the patterns are less than exciting, and calling it an "Ultimate" anything feels like a stretch. It's okay, it'll start you off, but if you're expecting to receive an 'ultimate' guide and come away from the book feeling confident and having created some really interesting pieces of crochet, there's a good chance you will, like me, come away disappointed.

Ok but there are better books for beginners
I don't consider myself a complete beginner but got this in the hope the patterns would be interesting. Was very pleased to see the cabled mittens but the pattern is actually pretty badly written and difficult to follow. I also find the wool and gauge results in a very thick, stiff fabric. Will modify this pattern to suit more. The beauty of Tunisian is the fabulous drape you can get even using chunky wools. Wouldn't say it's for complete beginners as it doesn't really explain everything clearly. I'm sure it will have its uses but as a stand alone beginners book I'm not so sure

Not what I expected. Too many patterns and not ...
Not what I expected. Too many patterns and not enough info about the stitches and techniques. Totally misrepresented. If you are a beginner don't buy this book unless you only want to learn 4 stitches. The photographs in the instructions appear to jump all over the place with pictures of totally unrelated stitches appearing in the middle of the instructions for a different stitch. The patterns, while simple, are completely unsuitable for beginners as they would take forever to finish. I wish I'd never bought this.

Perfect for someone who is good at normal crochet and wants to learn/improve at Tunisian Crochet.
Just right for my purposes.I am very good at crochet, and recently started learning Tunisian crochet, so I just wanted a simple book with a few more options for stitches and projects to improve my TC with. The projects aren't all just scarves either so plenty of nice ideas to get to grips with!

Good Guide
The explanation of how to make the stitches and the projects are all very clear and easy to understand. The book is also easy to put down and still be able to read from the page without having to wedge the book open. I like most of the projects and I am trying to do the scarf and so far it is going well. The book arrived the next day as promised and I was also given an hours slot of when it would be delivered which was accurate.
