It contains a clear picture and instructions for more than 350 crochet stitch patterns, grouped by the techniques used to make them. Each one is named, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on how you look at it. Having a name makes a particular pattern easier to find later. But then two different crocheters may call the same pattern by two different names and that can cause confusion. There are no charts in this book and I wish there were. But the photographed swatch and the clear instructions help make up for that. Several two color stitch patterns are included as well. The book uses a simple layout and photographs of the various patterns in several different smooth yarns to provide color. This is not your cheap stitchionary that just repeats the basic combinations that are included in any beginners techniques book. I think this will become a treasured, yet affordable, addition to my crochet reference collection. Now if only I could find a stitch dictionary that includes the rose and tulip clusters, my collection would be complete (wishful thinking / joking). Review: Definitely worth the purchase if you want to learn unusual stitches - Checked this out from our library and found so many unique stitches, I just had to buy it. I have done a couple of scarves and hats using this book, and it has allowed me to make gifts that few others have. So I would recommend this if you like to try unique and original crochet stitches.

Beautiful patterns
This is absolutely my favorite book of patterns. I've already made a scarf with one of the patterns for a Christmas gift and now I'm using one of the patterns for a shawl. The patterns have a really good picture so it's easy to pick out patterns I want to try and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

So many beautiful crochet stitches to learn and use!
The book has clear pictures that show how a stitch will look. The written patterns are easy to follow and include the number of chain stitches needed for the pattern to be crocheted in full. I like that each pattern also includes the international chart for the pattern and step by step instructions of any special stitches needed. It would be helpful if each row included the number of stitches that should be in the row so you can immediately tell where you've made a mistake. I also wish it gave a standard gage that could be used to tell how large a pattern will be once crocheted.

Crochet Book
This is a great reference book for a beginner intermediate crocheter. You have to know how to read patterns in this book. It does not have step by step photo directions of the stitches. I would not recommend it for a new beginner.

El libro es completo y tiene una estructura algo distinta. Hay bastantes puntos que me gustan y están bien explicados. Para tener 5* tendría que tener gráficos y algo más, pero estoy contenta.

This book is the most amazing stitch guide I have ever had (I've only ever had this one) but after 15 years of crocheting via random internet instructions and youtube videos, I finally purchased a stitch guide. It has large colour pictures of a swatch of each stitch as well as variations on each one. It gives a 'stitch multiple' so that you can make the project as large or small as you like. I have already marked half of the stitches with a 'to do' tab and would definitely recommend this to even the most accomplished crocheter, if only as inspiration for their next project.
