Negotiating For Dummies

They should make this a mandatory read in school. I got so tired of getting my rear end handed to me by car salesmen and bankers. Even in marriage, in jobs, in life everything is negotiating! Highly recommend it. Since it’s from 2007, it is a little dated though. But the principles are timeless.

Needing a more modern take on things, but a lot of this material is timeless. It's a great resource that should be taught to public school students more than the trivial crap we're cramming down their throats now. The only advice is that you read it with the intentions of tailoring the advice to your needs. Great read and in a great format, I refer to it almost DAILY considering my career in sales

MY HUSBAND LOVES THE BOOK

Excellent Rin! Gives you all the things you need to be able to negotiate any situation very well.

I've read the book Getting to Yes and was a little concerned that this may be dry as well. This doesn't seem like a tough subject to educate on; only tough to actually make yourself do. So with that said, I was impressed with the easy step-by-step (even on a audio level). I have a few more techniques in my arsenal that will allow me to more effectively use this skill. I also appreciate the fact that he points out to use it in even simple situations to gain experience. Would buy again that I've heard it? Yes.

Contains much useful information on the subject

It would seem this book is half-way between being a self-help book and a negotiation manual. While I appreciate the fact it emphasises self-control and self-knowledge as key components of being a good negotiator, its approach is a bit half-baked and simple for my taste. Furthermore, I appreciate the process-based approach and some of the tips, but I am not keen on the leaving out many of the complexities that include team management and other fields which are so important when being a part of negotiation teams.Overall, not bad by any means, but not my cup of tea.
