This book! It was the first book given to me after the death of my 3 year young daughter, and it was a lifeline. My sister-in-law texted me the liturgy written "for the morning of the funeral" the morning we prepared to celebrate my little girl’s life and the goodness of God, while mourning her death. I knew in that moment I needed this book, because really, what does one even pray the morning they prepare to bury their child? I know words aren't always necessary, and there has been plenty of moaning and groaning for the Spirit to take to the Lord on my behalf. Yet, there are times I long for words, need them so badly as I commune with the Lord. I was so grateful for the words, guidance, hope, lament, and frankness expressed in these pages. I wanted to pray the Lord's will, but in our darkest moments we often need gentle guidance. Words escaped me when I so desperately wanted them to present my case, my heart, my laments before the Lord. This book was a blessing. This is one worth keeping within reach for the tragic day a friend (or yourself) may need it. I have gifted this book too many times these past 14 months. It's appropriate for both early grief and I presume "late" grief. I suppose I feel I'm still speaking from early grief, but I have picked this book up for many of the "big dates" to read alone and with family on her birthday and gathering for family holidays. My surviving children also requested to read from it on some of those days. This is not specific for child loss; it is appropriate for any loss (past or pending).

Bought this at the recommendation of a friend who was given one after her husband died. It has helped me when supporting friends in various losses. Has also been a comfort in losses I have experienced.

I really appreciate this book for guided prayer. It's been helpful in going deeper in prayer with fasting on a regular basis for some very specific health needs. New experience for me to have some guidance with prayer. Highly recommend. Quality cover, variety of life's situations for prayer guidance.

As a cancer patient myself which is stage 4 & time/future being so uncertain, this book really spoke to me & lifted my spirits. It was recommended to me by a friend who had recently lost her husband to cancer as well. We don't need to be sick to be blessed by this volume as we're all going to face death, we just don't know when.

Such a good prayer book on grief and loss. I have bought multiple copies for family/friends cause it is so helpful to have written prayers in times of deep grief, when one doesn’t have the words. Got me through being there for a loved ones who pass away, as well as loss of dreams/jobs, and others. Can use individually or collectively. Was nice to have something to pray together at a viewing of a deceased loved one. So highly recommend.

I originally got this book from a friend after my dad died unexpectedly. This book gives words to feelings you may not understand and words to prayers you cannot say. I know the Holy Spirit still hears us in our weakness and intercedes for us when we do not know what to pray, but this book was still a sweet balm to the soul full of truth in dark times. I bought the pocket addition to give away since it was so helpful and encouraging to me and my family.

After the loss of my father I had the hardest time praying, the words just never came. A friend gifted me this and now i buy it for anyone suffering. It is a beautiful collection of liturgies for any kind of loss.

This is a very helpful book when the words aren’t there to lament circumstances that are painful to the soul. Definitely a source that can be used individually or with a group. This book has helped me in my journey of losing my wife to cancer.
