Majestic Progressive Guitar Tone
This is one fine " supergroup " here. Sometimes these type of bands can be overblown. Not at all here. The bass player John Myung, drummer Rod Morgenstein and guitarist/ vocalist Ty Tabor are an awsome combo. One can obviously here the Kings X and Dream Theater mix here. So if you like these bands you will love this. I know I certainly do.Ty's tone is impeccable on his majestic guitar playing as per usual.John really shows off his chops on the bass and at times you think your hearing Geddy Lee going at it.The song writing is solid and a bit darker then some of Kings X work. Maybe the album cover already sent that message ahead of the listeners experience.I don't normally point out highlighted songs on my reviews, but if you decide to download or proof check any of these songs, check out Water, Ghost Town and the closer Strong Belief.Simply phenomenal.

A supergroup that really is a super group, Perfection.
A concise and powerful musically statement that strikes the perfect blend of complexity and accessibility. Great songs and great playing. Ty, John and Rod are at the top of there game on this without going overboard. Such a sweet mix, every note is crystal clear. Sometimes when you get a supergroup thing, there are to many notes and overplay happens, this is an example of how to use space and silence to allow the music to breathe. Highly recommended.

A little darkness
Well, this album kinda surprised me a bit. I'm a huge fan of Ty Tabor because of his minor/diminished sound coupled with his unique voice. That being said, Profit has these qualities but also adds a little more darkness. However, not all of the songs sound dark and his signature sound is still intact. Jelly Jam fans will also appreciate this album as it sounds better than all previous albums...in my opinion. Honestly Dream Theater fans might even like this as you can definitely hear that influence in certain tracks. In conclusion, Myung plays excellent which is to be expected and Morgenstein does not disappoint with his percussion skills. In short, if you like Ty Tabor, Jelly Jam, Dream Theater and the type of sound I mentioned previously, you'll definitely like Profit by Jelly Jam.

...maybe their best work to date.
Great effort by this trio. The musicianship here is very solid. And the lyrics are quite good as well. This album is more mature and sophisticated than their other recordings which are great nonetheless. Tabor's guitar is outstanding as are Myung's bass and Morgenstein's drums. These guys are truly one of the better bands out there. Having no experience with King's X and very little exposure to Dream Theater I really can't make comparisons. I thought that the cut "Water" sounded somewhat Porcupine Tree-ish and the next tune "Stop" only reinforced it for me. I did like the change of pace that occurs with "Heaven". A slower song very well performed. Usually my preference is for hard and fast but this particular disc is varied and these guys pull it off beautifully. I definitely recommend this album, maybe their best work to date.

An Almost Perfect Rock Album !
To start off, this is absolutely the biggest surprise I in 2018, in all the vinyl I purchesed that year ( ALOT) With a line-up of Ty Tabor of King's X on guitar, keyboards, and vocals; Rod Morgenstein of The Dixie Dregs and Winger on drums and keyboards; and John Myung of Dream Theater on bass, moog, and Chapman stick, how could you possibly go wrong . This band caught me completely by surprise, in other words "Never heard of them!). Dynamic very well recorded, and the vinyl pressing was amazing. Hard to put my finger on a comparison, but sounds alot like Ty Tabors Alien Beans recording, but a harder edge. This album will be in constant rotation . You deserve to give "Profit" a listen !!

The Prophet vs. the Profiteers
The more I listen to this release the more enjoyable it gets. As other reviewers have mentioned it has a darker feel compared to their previous records but that should not deter anyone. What has not changed is the superb songwriting and playing by these guys. Ty’s lyrics and vocals are superb, the production is excellent, the mix sounds thick and heavy but still has dynamic range, and the rhythm section is extremely tight. With the amazing talent this band has it would be easy for them to write a prog-shred-fest, but what I admire about this release is that they take a detour from that and give the listener a concept album of catchy melodic rock. Standouts so far include “Care”, “Stain on the Sun”, “Ghost Town” and “Heaven”, but this could change at any time because all the tunes are so good. So if you’re a fan of The Jelly Jam or looking for something different this is worth checking out.

Great musicians meet and put together another super solid jam album! Enjoy!
Quality music, some unmemorable tracks but all good musicianship obviously. Love Dream Theater, so I'm glad to see their bassist, JOhn Myung, taking part in some side projects with other great musicians. Overall I'd give this 7.5/10 for music, the production is very nice too and sounds flat and well balanced, like I like on a great sound system. Decent dynamic range also for a CD.

This is a real solid album.
I'll be honest - I'm a bit biased. I think Allison/Drop-The-Gun is some of their finest. That said, this album doesn't disappoint. In all cases with King's X, the fans are the most critical. Take it as a glowing endorsement that this fan loves Profit. While I won't launch into an exhaustive review of each song, I'll summarize by saying that this is some of their most musically advanced work to date. They've really created something great here. While each Jelly Jam album has some great moments, this one feels the most solid album as a whole.
