I would highly recommend this for your dog for the summers
I would highly recommend this for your dog for the summers. I have a shepherding mix who can pant so bad she sounds like a motor running. She really doesn't like it above 70 degrees, but I live in Dallas so the summer usually runs upper 90's and low 100's. It can be mildly humid, it is not dry like the Southwest, but not humid like the South, so the evaporation that creates the cooling effect for the dog works well here. This vest has helped allow my dog to take walks a little longer than before and she cools off faster afterward, too. Without the vest, a walk outside in 90+ degree weather would have her exhausted after 15 mins, but with the vest she could stay relatively comfortable for 25 mins. And once back inside, instead of panting heavily for 15 mins, the panting reduced to 10 or less minutes.I can feel the coolness of her fur underneath, and the vest will remain wet/active for over 30 minutes. If you soak it for the full 3-5 minutes and don't get impatient, it makes a big difference in how long it will remain wet. If it dries off, just splashing some water on it from a fountain or the like can give you a bit more time.As for the fit, the flap that wraps around the belly doesn't really keep everything in place, and the body of the vest kind of twists to the side, so I fixed that by safety pinning the flap to the body. Likewise with the front flap, it was actually too wide for my dog's chest, so the velcro flap was just flapping free so I had to safety pin the end of it. With the safety pins, it stayed in place even when she'd try to shake her body. So, don't bother trying to sew on buttons or clasps, just safety pin it to tailor it for your dog. I think if you have a dog with big shoulders/chest, it should fit well. My dog weighs 60 lbs, and has a classic body shape (not muscular, not sleek/delicate, just regular dog shaped), and the medium size barely fits her around the ribs and is too large around the front chest.

Not sure
I just got it yesterday so I can't attest to its durability or how well it really works, to be honest. I don't feel a major/noticeable temperature difference between my dog's coat under the vest vs exposed parts (although he has been inside in AC basically all day). He was panting for the first 10 minutes of wearing, but he had recently gotten back from the dog park so that may have been unrelated (but did concern me, in terms of the vests effectiveness). He doesn't seem to mind wearing it, which is awesome because I've tried putting a fan near him, laying a wet towel on and under him, etc and he hated all of those things (he would get up and walk away). So, the vest is promising.I have also not had as much issue with the fit as other reviewers have noted. The Velcro in the front chest area does not stay/stick very well so it has come loose about 4 times over the past 4 hours and he's basically just been laying around (it only stays put when I match the Velcro strips exactly so I can't really make it any looser/tighter, but I am highly considering altering it like other reviewers). The main part stays put, as far as I can tell, as long as I make sure it's a snug fit.For reference, I have a 95 lbs malamute and got an XLOh, also, I love that it's not dripping water or leaving wet spots where he lays. And, about 4 hrs it's still cool (although I have not tested it in the heat yet).

A Brilliant, Convenient Godsend!
My doberman/greyhound could not be more grateful for this innovative solution to "hot dog syndrome"! He is 12 years old so he has very little heat tolerance. My dog is black and lives at 7600 feet altitude in the high mountain desert. "His" truck is black too. The HyperKewl Evaporative Cooling Dog Coat has provided a simply elegant, affordable remedy for overheating and heat related misery. He is a runner and this coat stays in place while he revels in the glory of racing around, jumping over sagebrush and making quick turns. The fabric surface is ideal for hiking in brush & scrub as it does not snag or pick up burrs. If the coat dries before your hike ends, you can easily pour more water over it on the fly to restore its effectiveness. How long it takes to dry-out depends on if you soak the coat before use or just run water over it. Also the humidity of the climate & whether the sun is blazing or overcast, will play a role. I have used this indoors as well. Other reviews revealed issues with the jacket slipping, but I discovered that a slight adjustment in how I wrapped it fixed this problem. Snug, not tight has given us the best results. After use, you will want to hang the coat where there is adequate ventilation to dry as hanging it in the shower will likely result in a mustiness. Be prepared to deal with people wanting to know why your pet is wearing a coat when it's 90 degrees out. (IMPORTANT: Please note: Using this coat while in a vehicle is for comfort only and does not grant a license to leave your dog in a hot vehicle any longer than you ordinarily would.) I could not be more grateful for the gift of this invention! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
