Alpha Hydrox Optimum Series, Retinol Night ResQ, Anti-Wrinkle Firming Complex - 1.05 oz

I bought this product because it was one of the less expensive retinol products available, but it's turned out to be my favorite so far.. I had read that retinol can help keep acne at bay, and I can attest to that. In addition to helping to keep the breakouts away, I definitely notice a smoother texture to my skin. And the results are pretty fast—within just a few days I can tell that the skin on my forehead is a lot smoother.IF you are using this for acne, you need to know that you will get what a lot of people refer to as the "acne purge." Retinol has the properties of increasing cell turnover, which is good in the long run, but it will usually cause your breakouts to be worse in the beginning. But tough it out! Because after your initial breakouts go away, this stuff keeps your skin sooo nice. Not to mention being able to help stave off wrinkles.The cream itself is fairly thick, and moisturizing. I imagine it is due to the product containing glycerin. It is just a little bit harsh, so I recommend keeping it far away from your eyelid area.

I use this at night and the Alpha Hydrox 12% Souffle for day. Between the two, I am definitely seeing an improvement in my skin. I am 45 years old and before starting Alpha Hydrox I had the lovely situation of aging skin which is still oily and breaking out (am I lucky or what? lol). My skin is still oily (I don't think anything is going to change that) but I no longer break out. On my face, I won't say that I'm looking younger, but I would say I have probably slowed the process that creates sagging & wrinkles - which is better than nothing for sure! On my neck, I have experienced definite firming. I was getting that little sag just under my chin and that is definitely firmed up since I've started using these products. Who knows, maybe my face will catch up? At any rate, with stuff this inexpensive while still so effective, I say you can't go wrong!

I bought and began using my first tube of Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ in November and this is my second purchase. After using it for about 3 months, I figure this would be the best time to review this product. I have combo/dry skin, I'm not particularly acne prone but do deal with 2 or 3 monthly breakouts and use to smoke. I have a few wrinkles and slight sun damage. Seeing as I'll be turning 30 in April, I figured this was the right time to up my skincare routine and add anti aging products. I'm so glad I did, I've seen marked improvement in my skin.In the first two weeks of using this retinol, I noticed the appearance of my pores was much better. They were smaller and looked smoother. In the third week, my sun damage began to lighten and my skin was overall brighter. Since then, I've watched the fine lines under my eyes and the large wrinkle on my forehead slowly "plump" and recede, in fact, I think the skin in my under eye area has thickened, it use to be much thinner and darker. I use this retinol on my eyelids as well, if you do be VERY careful, and I've noticed vast improvement there as well.During my use, I did experience slight redness, some light peeling and a bit of purging when my skin was adjusting to it. I did have some minor burning when I applied the retinol over these areas, but I found buffering it with my moisturizer helped greatly. The sensitivity in these areas only lasted a few days, I was able to apply the retinol without buffering and had no extended sensitivity afterwards. I still experience some slight flushing after applying at night, but it's gone in about a minute with no irritation.I do use vitamin C serum and an AHA cream during the day in conjunction with this retinol, in fact the back of the tube suggests using an AHA during the day, and I really think this has helped. My skin is brighter and my skin tone is far more even than when I was just using the retinol alone, so if your skin can handle it, I really suggest using them. Above all else, USE A SUNSCREEN EVERYDAY WHEN USING THIS ALONE OR IN COMBINATION WITH AN AHA DURING THE DAY.Overall, I would suggest Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ to anyone wanting to try a beginner level retinol treatment. For the price and performance, it can't be beat. It's a relatively low concentration, at 0.15% I believe, so it's gentle enough for someone who hasn't used retinol before. I will continue to re-purchase and use this treatment, it really does work.

Most people HAVE known this product has been around for YEAR's, but what they DON'T know & realize, this is the best product STILL around. I stopped using it for & started using VERY expensive products, lots of different brands that do NOTHING! I started reviewing all these products, pro's & con's, etc. This here product, though unlike the fancier eye catching boxes & all their promises, a lot which are NOT proven to actually work. OR have a small percentage of the "SUPER INGREDIENT" in it....Its just a marketing tool. Well after spending tons of money on products I will not mention, because that's not what I am here to do. I am here to leave a review on this product brand. Don't worry about the packaging, THAT'S JUST A MARKETING TOOL for the so-called higher end. The other products were not working. I read a lot of the pro's & con's on THIS entire line & I bought the ones I personally thought were for MY skin. Let me tell you, THIS product line is the one for MY SKIN. I only had to buy about four or five of the line. (For wrinkles mostly), I went to my dermatologist just for the heck of it to see if I needed to add anything to the product line I was using. She said to me that whatever I was using was a great product. I told her. I also told her I was about to turn 58 in a few months. So she said to ADD to my already great skincare line, she gave me a prescription for Retinol A, the lower dose first which is 25%, the after I finish that, she'll give me 50%. I HAVE NOW STARTED MY BOTOX & people that haven't seen me in a while says my skin looks awesome. I am giving KUDOS to this whole product like, because I started using it for three years BEFORE the BOTOX. This is too much to write for all the products in this line I DID buy, but its inexpensive enough to buys whatever you need from this line alone! Take pride in your skin.
