Perfect for tall boys and custom desks!
Being a tall boy, when building a work station for my computer at home; I didn't want every other workstation ever made (I wanted proper height for my work station). Though my work station is the perfect height for myself, it's just that little too big for most office chairs... The solution? This badass piston! I now sit at the perfect height for typing and sitting work, there's even extra room for adjustment for when I want to put my feet up.The old piston was VERY stubborn to remove, if fitting this yourself be sure to have some WD-40, a cartoon sized mallet, and a couple of decent sized mole grips to hand. I'm sure in most cases it's a 5-10 minuet job... but sods law it took me a good 20-30 minuets to convince the old piston it's services were no longer required. Thanks for the piston, and the work out ^_^

Cheap - Works
I have two desk chairs at my home office both of which had failing/failed gas lift cylinders. Given that the chairs were not super cheap I figured that I may as well see if a cheap replacement would work. And, I'm chuffed to say that these do.First off it appears that the sizes, or at least the diameters of these are fairly standard for most chairs. 2" for the cylinder and 1" for the piston. And yes, I know that's ancient imperial measurements but even today across the world including European nations inches is the most used standard for pipe.Fitting is easy. My chairs are a good representation of the average fitting and you simply knock the old piston out with the subtle aid of a decent hammer and push the new unit into place. A few minutes sitting on the chair with a lardy middle aged bloke and they will be firmly driven home. The one thing that is different with these is the overall length and the adjustable range. When I ordered these there were about the same overall length but the lower end of the range was higher. Fortunately, this was not an issue as both my wife and I use our chairs above the minimum. However, make sure you order the correct length just in case.Overall a cheap way to bring back to life a couple of chairs.

Quality replacement.
The gas lift failed on our to be fair otherwise excellent Dowinx chair quite literally a couple of days after the warranty expired as is sometimes the way. Communication with them was painful and basically consisted of buy another one, even providing the specifications was beyond them. We therefore went for this option as a replacement, we knew it was longer and lifted higher than the original but because we are both tall it made sense. This gas lift compares to the original like chalk and cheese and appears to be a quality item, fitting was easy with no problems so far and the increased height makes it much more comfortable than the original adjustable height range.

A great way to increase the height of an office chair
Our desk is higher than standard and we had been using a cushion as the chair was too low. Changing the cylinder is much better. It is not as easy as the videos would suggest but I would suggest removing the castor side first by holding the chair upside down by them and having someone hit the cylinder with a mallet. Then you’ll need a pair of grips to turn the old cylinder until it comes free...

Extends very high
Very good. Extends very high almost to bar stool height. Glad I got it. Good solid stem for an office chair that I liked but didn’t have a solid enough base or stem. Much better now. This has given it extra years of life.
