You need either very thick or quite course hair for these to be useful. Mine is waist length and quite thick actually, but fine. You need a very substantial mass of hair in the barrette for these to stay in place.

Can't really give a rating. I never looked at the length listed for the barrettes, and they are too long for what I need. Very pretty! Easy return.
