Zephyr Spinning Reel,Size 3000 Fishing Reel, Light Weight Ultra Smooth Powerful Spinning Fishing Reels

Works great, very smooth, great casting!

This is an amazing reel. I noticed the price and decided to give it a try. I went for the 3000 version. I loaded it with 15lb braid on a 6ft6in rod and took it out kayak fishing. After only a few casts I switched it for my go to rig, which is a Pflueger President on the same 6ft6in rod. The Pflueger casts a mile with 15lb braid, the KastKing was just so-so and just didn't cast as far as the Pflueger did using the same lure. I really wanted to like this reel so I decided to give it another go, but with 10lb braid to a 10lb flourocarbon leader on the same rod. What a huge difference- this thing casts soooooooo far, is super smooth, and is so quiet. It has become my main rig and has been fantastic. Even casting into the wind with a small rooster tail, this thing just flew, and with a slightly larger lure it went even further. The Pros: Wow, this reel looks really good and is super light. casts a mile, seems to love the 10lb braid. It is just so smooth. The cons: Although it didn't cast as far with the 15lb braid as my Pflueger did, it really wasn't that bad so I am going to say that I don't see any cons to this reel. The price: This was in a perfect price point and certainly didn't break the bank. I got it with a 20% off deal and you just can't beat that at all. Overall: This was such a good reel I decided to buy another one (the Spartacus II- you can read my review on that one as well) and I think I have become a KastKing fan so far. Now if the darn fish would just bite...

Built very nicely, clean design, quality looks great and feels great feels very smooth it’s a bit heavy but that just means it’s built tough. The got the 3000 size and it’s the same size as a daiwa regal 2500. Definitely worth the money and worth the try.

[Update: I spent two weeks last month fishing those Alaska king salmon. This reel is a beast and the drag is superb. I think kings over 30lb would wear it out before too long but I was bringing in fish between 20 and 25lb easily - both kings and chum. probably landed 30 fish 20lb plus and the reel still feels brand new. Line capacity might be my only complaint but you might not need it. I was broken off several times but I didn't get spooled once.] I bought this reel in 4000 because I own a 3000 and I love it. This is my only complaint: I wanted a size up because I'm preparing to fish for larger salmon than I normally do. I will be back in Alaska and the kings will be running. If you already own this reel in 3000 I would not recommend the 4000 unless you need slightly greater line capacity or simply want another reel in that size class. These are literally identical reels except for the spool which is slightly larger in diameter. I even swapped them around to verify this. On the other hand, I am very happy and satisfied to have a second of this reel which has performed so well for me.

The packaging and appearance of this reel is stylish. It looks modern, innovative and hot. The instructional page is outstanding... extremely detailed. These instructions tell you everything you need to know. I used braided line and a 14 lb. flourocarbon leader with it on my 7' medium heavy action Mitchell rod. Immediately, you recognize the lightweight feel of this reel. My Dad liked its lightweight feel so well, I ended up giving it to him by the end of the trip after he hinted so frequently that he wanted it! :) Casting distance was awesome. That 1/4 oz. jighead and swimbait was flying just as far as some of my $100 reels even from a seated position. Zephyr 3000 easily handled the spotted bass and northern pike I caught on it. I'm certain it would have landed even the 6 lb. dog fish I caught. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because its durability is still unknown. With the $46.00 price tag, this reel is exactly what Kastking represents... innovative fishing gear at an affordable price.
