First Impressions and test
Update 6/9/24: I've owned these binoculars for 6 months now and I still love them. The clarity and sharpness is excellent in all conditions and color is great! They come birding with me at least 3 times a week and they have held up very well and show no signs of wear. The rubber coating, optics and focus knobs all still function like new.I bought these as birding binoculars to replace my cheap $80 pair of of bushnells. The optical quality compared to those is no contest.I also tested the Vanguard binocs against Vortex Diamondback HD 10x50 binoculars and found the Vanguard binocs to be superior, offering lower light dispersion and very little aberration (purple and green) around the edges of whatever you're viewing.I tested these binoculars under multiple conditions including clouds, low-light (dawn), bright light, and in cloudy weather. These binoculars provide excellent clarity and birds and scenery appear bright and vibrant. I've never viewed birds with such depth and clarity through binoculars before. Under all conditions I was able to quickly focus on the details. The binoculars fit nicely in my large hands and the focus wheel is easy to reach. One nice feature is that the right eye diopter can lock in and out of place so you never lose your setting.I picked these binoculars up for $200 new here on Amazon and for that price they are definitely worth it, no question. The manufacturers website lists these as $399 which is not a good deal. A fair price is $200-$275.

Pelin pesados

Very disappointed
This endeavour ed ii 10x42 has some very favourable reviews in particular albinos.com who rate this binocular at no 16 out of their top 100 10x42 binoculars ahead of two Leica models… Personally i would not recommend this binocular on optical performance, i did a field test comparing it with my Carson vp series 10x42 and the Carson won easily..! At a distance of approximately 1/4 of a mile focussing on a tree the Carson resolved more detail and was sharper than the vanguard.. I fiddled about with the diopter setting but nope i just couldn’t get a clear, sharp image. The build quality however on the vanguard is exceptional, probably the best I’ve encountered in a Chinese roof prism binocular. The solid magnesium housing, smooth and firm eye cups and a locking diopter all give this binocular a feeling of very high quality but optically…very disappointing. Focussing is geared very fast and coupled with the high 10x magnification probably contributed to the unsteady and blurred image.. I bought it because of the generous eye relief, wide field of view and excellent close focus of just under 2 metres but sadly i will be returning it and keeping my Carson which incidentally albinos.com do not even list on their website… good luck!

Outstanding, can't beat price on Amazon
Bought as a recommended binocular on Audubon website. Not disappointed, sharp bright optics, quality build. Amazon price was half of the recommended retail on Vanguard web site

Clear Image, easy to use
Overall, the Vanguard Endeavor ED II Binocular with Premium Hoya ED Glass is excellent and all we had hoped for and expected. In addition, delivery to Australia from the US was even quicker than Amazon had said it would be.There is just one concern: it's far too easy to completely "unwind" (and possibly lose) the screw-on covers to the eye pieces. We bought two sets of binoculars, and in trying to re-connect one of these covers after it became accidentally detached, it seems (despite many attempts) to have become impossible to re-engage the thread of the cover and that of the place where it is supposed to screw on. At present, it is being held on because the thread is slightly "off", which is holding it in place. I am reluctant to try to get it right for fear of stripping one or both of the relevant threads. Is there somewhere in Australia I can take this binocular (preferably in Sydney, which is closer to where I live in Canberra) and have it expertly fixed?Thank you
