59370 Stretch Belt Remover / Installer, Slip-Joint Pliers Found In: Tools & Home Improvem, Silver

Had one 30 years ago but lost it. I removed the second alt on my Ram 2500 but had a bear of a time getting back on without this. So second time around, I remembered I had one and bought this one again. There are other things you can stick between the belt and the pulley but this just works so well. Makes the job much easier, especially when dealing with awkward Alternator that's in a hard to reach location.

Bought this to use on 2.4L stretch belts on yellow forklifts (if you know you know). Had to modify my cutting off removal side of tool. WORKS GREAT NOW! Worth every penny makes installing those belts so much easier. Definitely recommend.

The BMW tool for stretch belts is $150 so I wanted to find a less expensive tool to put a new A/C belt on our 2010 X5 3.0. Some said this tool worked and others said that it does not fit the pulley. Both were right I guess. I was able to use it but probably not as originally intended. I set the belt over the crank pulley and then lined up the belt on the "install" side of the tool and started at the bottom of the A/C pulley. I held the tool agains the pulley with my left hand while I turned the crankshaft (22m bolt) with my right hand. The belt was on by the time the tool reached the top of the pulley. It was not properly aligned on the A/C pulley but I was able to move it to its proper groove by continuing to turn the crankshaft and pushing the belt further onto the A/C pulley using either a flathead or a small pry bar. $15 was well worth it as I don't anticipate having to replace the belt for years to come.

Worked on a 2011 Ford Fiesta SEL. 10-26-25, just now used this on my daughters Fiesta, putting on a NEW belt, even with this tool it’s still NOT easy. I had to use a long ratchet breaker bar to to turn the crank pulley. With the belt mostly on, I also had to use a smooth, long handle non-ratchet wrench to help keep the belt pryed / pushed down, while I was slowly turning the crank pulley. The quality of the tool itself is solid, but the magnet as noted by others is not very strong! Be aware that it will not work on the newer 2019 up Silverado’s.
