code books can be hit or miss i found and this one is good. (it may help i had a "miss" php book before i got this) The author clearly demonstrates the concepts he is trying to present and explains them well. the code examples match what is in book and they work. If you want to begin to learn php - this is a good book to do it with.

It's basically free on Kindle, so what can you really expect? The book is worth more than $3. It covers a lot of important topics. In a book this small, it doesn't go into a ton of depth. It's perfect to introduce yourself to PHP and get a high level view. Then you can spend more on other books and dive deeper. It's a steal.

This book is a good starting point for anyone that wants to learn PHP development.

I have a few of the authors books he makes a complex subject easy to understand.

Book is outdated for latest version. But for code samples, it is helpful.

The first 2/3 of the book I thought was well written and did a good job teaching PHP. The last few chapters though felt like it went from 0-100 all of a sudden and I was way out of my depth. The final project included at the end required using more advanced coding concepts that left me frustrated, confused, and unable to finish it. It was a disappointing end to a book that started out well.

I purchased a number of books from this author around the same time and have to say I have been really disappointed that they are full of errors causing programming examples not to work and being inexperienced (the reason I bought the book in the first place) I am at a loss and can't fix the problems I come across! Before publishing the books you write please get someone to proof read it and try out the programming assignments!!!!!

I have some knowledge but this book really takes you through everything from start to finish. Great way of teaching.

I'm a definite fan of Jamie Chan's books! His book about C# (same title as this one here, just "C#" instead of "PHP") was one of the first that helped me getting back into programming a few years ago. I also digged a bit his free online JavaScript course and bought his SQL book. I find his writing style easy to follow and supportive. From my experience, the right author makes a HUGE difference when learning new stuff. So this book here was a blind purchase for me, especially at this ridiculous low price. Thank you, Jamie!
