Great for security and peace-of-mind
To disclose, this item was received as a sample for either a reduced cost or for free. If this presents any issue whatsoever, please skip the review. Note that reviewing is subjective, too, but I am attempting a description of the item itself and why I rated it like I did. Hopefully this comes through, and if you have any questions, let me know.I will be video reviewing this within the next week, and the video will be on a popular video site. Simply search my user name and the product and YOU can find the channel, or TUBE, pretty easily. Now, I rated this a 5-star, or and 'I love it," and I consider this a solid 5-star item. What I mean by that is that I feel really good about everything from aesthetics to design, and testing went really well. For the electronic portion, I tested this with one of my laptops, a Toshiba Satellite, and I also carried with me a keyboard, a spare mouse, and some charging implements.Normally, I have two bags I carry with me just about everywhere. These are comprised of two Thule bags, and I like them quite a bit. The thing that made me consider making an addition was related to security, and more specifically travelling and making sure my laptop is safe. Now, my normal backpack has a good area for support and a side opening area, and I thought that was amazing until I started using this, with its zip-down performance and deluxe internal protection. That and the fact that the back of the bag can be secured separately and locked pretty much sold me on 'a reason to carry this,' and the positives here are just getting started. When I first consider a bag, I envision what I will be using it for and whether it will work for that, followed by a material and design check. With function, the aforementioned uses apply here, but I also attend meetings, travel, go outdoors, and more, and this would meet those needs. Some of that is the basics a bag like this adds, and some of that is in material and addition design. Speaking on material, this has nylon elements, mesh-oriented sections, and more, making it both weather-resistant (meaning it sheds rain, not that it needs a dip in a pool or pond) and breathable. This means that you can consider carrying it as a student and not ruining your contents, and it also means you could consider a hike with it and not worry about sporadic showers messing up camera or computer equipment. For design, we are talking about a three-compartment bag, with a main compartment, the laptop compartment, and a front compartment. Now, some people might consider the very front an additional compartment, but I consider it a zippered area attached to the front-most compartment. As far as the compartments go, the front-most area has the zippered compartment, which is roomy and good for specific types of things. These include everything from flat media, SD cards, a phone; basically, anything you want to get to in a hurry. In the compartment itself, you have two open pouches attached to the interior, with two standalone pencil/pen/stylus holders and a keychain clasp in the upper corner. Interestingly, the clasp is detachable, too, so you can keep everything form an emergency key to something like a Gatekeeper on-hand. Something I like in this bag design is that the outer compartment is quite large, too, making it great nice for anything from materials to even wet clothing, and with the bag separation the way it is, wet clothing could be utilized here (noting you would still want to be careful with something like that).Additionally, exterior also sports two outer pouches, and these are comprised of an awesome mesh interior with zipper exterior. This means you can keep all types of items within it, and you can unzip it for access, for drying, to allow it to carry more, or for added weather resistance. The inner compartment is a huge area, with a slide-in type frontal pouch. The pouch is roomy enough that I have been carting around a tripod inside it, and I have room for so much more. I imagine this being the perfect college backpack considering books and needed implements, and I find it really handy for outdoor travel, with it being able to fit so much of what I want to carry in a neat, organized manner. The other day, for example, I carried a outdoor retracting blanket, a set of stakes, a tripod, action camera gear, dry food, safety kit, items for turtle retrieval, and more inside and the compartment never felt maxed out or overfilled. Now, the rear compartment is what impressed me the most here. It is a zip-down design, meaning you can take the two zippers and literally zip the bag all the way to the bottom of the bag, allowing for easy access. That type of design is great when you think about how you can place a computer in, secure it (i will note more on that), close it back, and go. Then, when you want, you can unfurl the bag and retrieve your computer without having to try and force it out. This allows for secure travel and retrieval, plus it allows for maximum use of the space, which basically means it does what few bags do - it holds sizes as advertised.Within the rear compartment, you have three items. On the portion attached to the rest of the backpack, you have a zippered, mesh compartment. It is rather large and will hold cords, a mouse, or whatever else you need to place inside. The lower portion is opened, meaning it is a pouch but with easy access, and this is where I place power plugs. Now, on the rear of the bag is a soft-but-firm, bubble-padded compartment that can be entirely opened, with the area closest to the back having the bubble-padding, and with sides folding toward this and with a piece that secures to this/ a Velcro strap that secures from the top, creating an effective security barrier. As the product notes, this makes it shakeproof and very, very protected. The rear of the bag is perfectly padded, with soft, breathable mesh material and straps/ material that structures not only for comfort, but also for back and spine protection/comfort. There is also a padded compartment built into the lower portion of the padding, making this both comfortable and utilitarian. Each area has its own zipper separation, making each portion secureable on their own. This means that the back can be locked off, and the backpack does come with a small lock so you can go with it right away.All-in-all, it is VERY good.
